Well, such is the duty of a father.

I was picturing more of a car accident scenario though, not simply 'living apart' from them. That would hurt, and probably ruin the remainder of my life, but I'd still feel a duty to support and guide the kids.

Duty and purpose are two different things. When you conflate the two, that's when you see men cutting their lives short when their wive's decide to look for a different man and take everything. It's also what happens when totalitarian states muster million-man armies and lead countless souls to the slaughter. Their purpose and their duty is one and the same.

I would caution you against such an assumption. It leads not only to ruin but a lack of virtue.

That's true. But it doesn't take away the problem of your losing your purpose in life when you are not even allowed to actually father your own children. It's a really bad place to derive your purpose from. Trust me. It can take many years to work that shit out.

The MTA says it is going to "modify" tiles in a Manhattan subway station that people have complained look like Confederate Flags.

The pattern of tiles have been in the Times Square station for almost 100 years. The architects are said to have installed them to pay homage to the Southern roots of former New York Times newspaper head Adolph S. Ochs.



The MTA has claimed the tiles actually are meant to honor Times Square’s nickname as the "Crossroads of the World" and are not Confederate Flags.
