The health minister has granted powers to forcibly detain people with the virus in quarantine.
Shortages of goods produced in China and the effect of the shutdown on the global economy are more of a worry.

A mix-up in the lab allowed an infected patient that had been evacuated from China to leave the hospital and intermingle with other evacuees quarantined at a military base, Dr. Anne Schuchat, a top official at the CDC, told reporters in Washington. “It turns out there was probably a mix up and the original test wasn’t negative,” she said. Four evacuees at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego had been in federal quarantine after showing symptoms of the virus. After testing negative for the virus, they were returned to the base on Sunday where they joined more than 200 people who are under a 14-day quarantine. The CDC discovered that one of the patients actually tested positive for Covid-19 and was returned to the hospital where they are under isolation.

Public healthcare 100 years ago was nowhere near as advanced as it is now and the spread of the virus in 1919-1920 was exacerbated by millions of troops returning home from the war.
As far as I know, there has not been a death outside of China yet.

And God I can't bear to read another "OMZG the racism against Asians is off the hook!" article. They caused this with their behavior. They eat weird shit. They live in unsanitary conditions even when they allegedly become an economic superpower. Maybe there is a reason for the contempt?

The agricultural revolution was almost ten thousand years ago. You don't need to eat pangolins and exotic cats. For fuck sake.

The scientific revolution occurred. We put people on the Moon. If the Chinese are so high-IQ, then why can't they figure out that pangolin scales do not make their dicks bigger?

They don't commonly use tissues or cover their mouth when they cough! They should be criticized. Culture isn't logical or rational. They are "high iq" is another reason "iq" isn't everything or what it alleges to be. Part of it is there are too many crowded cities that are too populated. It doesn't scale up efficiently. Less is more here. Human wave attacks go a long with huge populations of proles to throw at the enemy and it also is a good way to care less about people in general.
