Our cops were pretty reasonable about using force, other than the occasional beatings. I was only in confrontation with an LA cop once (actually immigration) in the 70s and nothing came from it. I didn't like his attitude and made my displeasure known. He went away and that was that.
Rare for them to shoot women, 95% of people shot by the police in America are male.

You getting into an argument with a cop, me getting into an argument with a cop, two totally different ballgames, he's not looking at you as a threat.
Different kind of a threat. You are a potential physical threat. I can just cause him trouble. I assume he didn't want trouble.
Yeah, exactly, the last thing they need is a screeching female accusing them of some sort of abuse, but If I lip back the LAPD, they go into aggressive mode instantly, they're pretty much in aggressive mode even if I don't, and you can tell with American cops, you can see it, they're watching the hands, they're assessing a target as a potential threat, they're on edge, they're looking around to make sure nobody is with me who might come at them from a flank.

The claiming abuse thing didn't really happen back then - it didn't even occur to me.

This is an interesting difference in cultures. Cops look at me like "who does she know? Am I going to get a call from my chief?" The point being that I may be able to cause him trouble; trouble that is easily avoidable by treating each other respectfully. I very much doubt any cop would see me as a physical threat.

When you're a dude, female cops are the worst, they have a chip on their shoulders and they're out to prove that they're not to be messed with, female cops are the bitchiest cops of them all. I always get along with male cops, females cops are practically impossible to get along with, they act like you're giving them attitude even when you're going out of your way not to.

I only met one. She was very helpful. I heard a loud crash come from inside my house while I was coming in with the kids and she checked out every inch of the house with her gun drawn. I felt ridiculous for calling over what turned out to be nothing, but she assured me I should always call when in doubt, which helped make me feel a little less foolish and safer in a new house and town.

Well, all cops are helpful in that situation, I'm talking like traffic stops, on the street, stuff like that.

Wondering if everyone else knows this is an old story we covered years ago.

I believe previously they didn’t show him get shot.
And of course the cop being found not guilty in court.

It is, but the officer was just acquitted and the body cam video finally released. Pretty brutal shit.

Until we change the training and rules of engagement for LEOs this will continue to happen. The biggest thing that needs to change is the attitude the LEO lives are more important than citizens.
