Oh, I'm not actually opposed to gun control, it doesn't actually bother me, I like it, I like that it's exclusive, here in Canada, we gun owners, we're like an exclusive club, we don't want just any old yayhoo joining our club, my position is privelege not a right, I don't advocate for gun "rights" in Canada, I only advocate for gun privileges, but, I mean, I'm a monarchist, literally, fealty sworn to the British Crown, so, you know, I don't think that shit is ever gonna fly in America.Kath wrote:So your answer is no, no restrictions.Smitty-48 wrote:
It's only reasonable if it actually works to the stated purpose that the advocates are invoking, so we have all the laws which the gun control loonies in America want, and many more beyond even what they could reasonably hope for, and it still wouldn't have stopped that mass shooting, lone wolf suicide attack, so the reality is, it's security theater, which, no, that's not actually reasoned, that's all feelz.
A 12 year old can stop by the gun shop on his way to school and grab an automatic rifle. That's okay?
I'm asking a serious question.
Note - my question isn't about what's already in place. I'm asking if you had your Nirvana, are there ANY gun restriction laws you believe should stay on the books?

Sounds like people need to familiarize themselves with the Gun Control Act of 1968 so they can quit asking for restrictions that are ALREADY IN PLACE.

I never insinuated you did. My point is a government can do more harm to an unarmed population than an armed population can do to itself.Kath wrote:You have no evidence at all in the past several years that I support gun bans. How many restrictions are you willing to place upon yourself to feel safe? You trust the govt not to abuse their power if they felt the populous posed little to no threat?
A guy can walk to a gun shop and say, "I need to quietly shoot the guy who is sleeping with my wife, what do you recommend?" It's all good?
It's a serious question for those of you who say "no restrictions." I want to know what that means.
You want to ban Bumpers and limit to 31 rd mags, I'll abide. That's as low as my bar goes.

You weren't going by my rules. (Really what an adolescent thing to say, like you're pleading to a parent)PartyOf5 wrote:I was going by his rules. You're advocating attack gun owners because you see ownership as a threat.
Now you're tap dancing because you can't justify it.
Weak.

Wow. You just cherry-picked you own quote. Dishonest bitch.DBTrek wrote:Said all opinions aren't respectable.PartyOf5 wrote:And yet you say an opinion can negatively impact you. Here I thought actions on those opinions would cause the negative impact.
Something that should be self-obvious, but given the demonstration of mental aptitude you've treated us to thus far, clearly I should not assume.

Tell her how you're just playing by DBTrek rules and maybe no one will notice that you're all for limiting the rights of others so you can have happy feelz.

I keep telling them if they want to truly change things they need to repeal and make gun ownership a privilege instead of a right.DBTrek wrote:Cry to your momma about it, hypocrite.PartyOf5 wrote:Wow. You just cherry-picked you own quote. Dishonest bitch.

Instead they just want to trample upon the rights of others while they are still rights
Of course the smart ones know they would never support a repeal simply because they couldn't win

The way some of you talk, you want those gone, too. So I'm curious if you had your way, if there would be any control at all.DBTrek wrote:Sounds like people need to familiarize themselves with the Gun Control Act of 1968 so they can quit asking for restrictions that are ALREADY IN PLACE.

Re: LET'S BAN GUNS!
I will say this tho, Canadian gun control, that's all it is, it's just making it into an exclusive club, but this mass shooter you had in Las Vegas? I'd say he'd be able to get in, he didn't profile as somebody we would deny a restricted firearms license to, I mean, he passed an FBI background check, if he could pass that, he could pass an RCMP background check, no doubt, the FBI is actually much better equipped for that than the RCMP is.
So what else would he need to do? Pass a two day course which a monkey could pass, and acquire some illegal hi-cap mags? No problemo, easily done, once he's willing to step outside of voluntary compliance, it's not like we'd be watching him like the KGB, it's a free country, we're strict, but we're not that strict, and even then, the Soviets didn't know what was going on most of the time, even with a KGB.
