That's what I asked pages ago. I suspect that the issue is with expecting the government to pay for a life-flight across the Atlantic, or even cover the American procedure. Those don't look like rich people, and they aren't likely to have any sort of private insurance that would cover the procedure in America.
I assume that Brits have the right to refuse treatment, as any patient does in the world. But that's not what they're asking for.

No.
The issue is that the government doctors will not allow them to even take their own child away from the hospital, much less take him to America for experimental treatment (on their own dime).
It really does begin to appear they want this boy dead so that their health care system won't look like the fucking failure that it is. This is how bureaucrats work. It's the same type of shit that happens to veterans in America but applied to a child.

Please show a source for your deduction. I do not see that stated anywhere.

President Donald J. Trump has backed the fight to save the critically ill British baby Charlie Gard, saying he would be “delighted” to “help” the boy after a European court ruled his parents could not privately fund a final attempt to treat him.
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has been slammed for acting like a “death panel” after denying Charlie’s parents the chance to take their son to the U.S. for “experimental treatment”.
The court argued that little Charlie was too ill, could not be saved, and must “die with dignity” in the UK.
His mother disagreed, insisting, “Charlie should get a chance to try these medications”, explaining: “He literally has nothing to lose but potentially a healthier, happier life to gain.”

I have read them, and performed a basic Google search. I still do not see anywhere that the parents are not free to pick up the kid and walk out.
Of course, he'd be dead within minutes, but I believe they could. I also do not see it stated anywhere who exactly is going to pay to get the kid across the ocean, and pay for the procedure.
You clowns want to blast "fake news" all the time, but you can't even be bothered to think critically when it falls into your preferred viewpoint. Very telling.

Grump, Monte and I went over this in the other forum. They aren't letting the kid leave or go to the US, that's not a point of debate, it's a fact.
The family raised money through donations to pay for the US trip.
The UN board of human rights or whatever its called determined it was not in the child's interest to prolong treatment.

Well then I stand corrected. They raised enough to arrange a life-flight?
Ok, I'm on the other side then. They should be able to refuse treatment, same as anyone.

We've been through this already. The doctors are acting on behalf of the child so it doesn't go through any more pointless treatments. The child has no prospect of recovery, even the private clinic who want to experiment on him admit this. He is never going to wake up even after treatment. It is stopping a clinic from exploiting the parent's unwillingness to let go for large amounts of money.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
