Also in urban areas I have observed this there is a rthymn to it the rushes are intense and then dead and the in a another couple hours here they come again. Where in the suburbs, yes they have their rushes but it is no where near as intense and there is a more constant trickle throughout the day.kybkh wrote:Isn't the obvious reason for this because African Americans live in areas with high density populations?

See that's actually not true. Just imagine the hard luck story if most minority voters lived in the sticks. See in the cities your polling place is right within walking distance, its the rec center, school, or church hall (GCF melts) and even if it is not public transportion is there usually gree on election day. However in the rural parts the polling place is miles away and there is no buses, so you have to drive and you know what that means. You have to get a driver license and we all know how hard that is, now just imagine being black and having to get one. Yeah!Ph64 wrote:Or they're wasting a few minutes finding/behind cover from the bullets flying around.kybkh wrote:Isn't the obvious reason for this because African Americans live in areas with high density populations?

I don't see the evidence that it is a Republican problem rather than an urban problem. Do you have a study specifically on that? The chart you posted seems very easy to explain by the proportions of different races that live in urban areas. It makes total sense that people living in less populated areas don't have to wait in long lines at their churches and other polling places. They very likely have to travel farther to get to the polling place but your chart wasn't measuring that.brewster wrote:????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????clubgop wrote:
Injustice must be ok as long as those you vote for are never held responsible. That's democracy.
Inside your head is a scary place. So injustice to the disenfranchised, such as minors, noncitizens, convicts, ex convicts, and those who won't wait hours to vote, is the natural order of things?
I'm sure there's plenty of blame to go around, but one thing I notice is this seems to happen only in urban areas of red or purple states. It doesn't happen in NY, NJ or CA. Now, it might not be a partisan thing, those states could just be underfunding the election apparatus as part of a general underfunding of government, and it it only critical in the denser areas. Whatever the reason, people are being discouraged from exercising their right to vote, which should arouse the ire of anyone who cares about the Constitution and our rights, not just those who think they would vote with them.Dand wrote:So Brewster, do you think that someone running those polling places is letting whites skip in line in front of the others?
Or could it be that a greater proportion of the non-white population live in urban places which are more crowded and run by Democrats?

Nah, I like that churches exist. They keep the most idiotic among us from questioning their existence, and becoming dangerous.clubgop wrote:And I bet it eats you up inside.GrumpyCatFace wrote:my voting location is in a church gymnasium. No melting yet.clubgop wrote:

The Church of St Peter-on-the-Wall in the equally hyphenated Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex, dates from AD654. It is built on top of a large and important Roman shoreline fort called Othona, and is reputed to have been built by St Cedd for the East Saxons. The name ‘on the wall’ stems from the fact that the church was built on the wall of the fort. This small building was in fact built as a cathedral, and Cedd was consecrated Bishop of Essex within it. Cedd was brother to St Chad, who is buried in Durham Cathedral, and their missionary work was to spread their version of Celtic Christianity as far as possible. Much of the original building survives, and the piecemeal composition of the exterior, with its mixture of Roman and Saxon brick and its small, high windows, is as fascinating as the inside.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
