@ both
I personally hate Left-Right, Liberal - Conservative tags. They rely on ones own personal understanding of what those terms mean and it just gets into a bunch of semantics.
I see political divides primarily as Collectivist - Monarchial - Liberty minded. For instance John McCain and Rand Paul are in the same party, and both get called Conservative and Right Wing. But the two are almost 180 out on most subjects, McCain is a giant Collectivist all for the Central government consolidating more power and Rand Paul is more Liberty minded.
The traditional political divisions don't serve us very well anymore. We have the media out there calling AntiFa a Leftist group, but really they are for the status quo and very much resemble the KKK of 1865.

Too true, Carlus--"Ye shall know them by their fruits." It matters not what they call themselves, nor what we call them, but what they do.

Any of those people committing crimes? Can you name any of these people? Can you name what rally or gathering these pics are from? Hell that first pic is a lib engaging in what passes for satire. Thanks for making my point. I point to news reports and you post an onion article. Real good there.GrumpyCatFace wrote:I'll suppose for a moment that you're yelling at the monolithic Left Establishment or whatever, and not directing that towards me... While we are appointing Neil Gorsuch to the SCOTUS and debating the finer points of a 120 moratorium on travel from 7 nations, you're side is debating whether it is ok to punch those you deem nazis and if setting a campus ablaze cause of speech you dont like. Random signs from random gatherings vs video from a debate on who is to chair your party.GrumpyCatFace wrote:I'll suppose for a moment that you're yelling at the monolithic Left Establishment or whatever, and not directing that towards me... It's a good point.
Violence in the streets is violence in the streets.
Take the Patriot Movement that the Bundy's attempted to coopt. First of all the Bundy's have to be pissed right now. Here you have month after month of violence in the streets by a certain segment of the population and few of the perpetrators will be prosecuted and the press is mostly mute on it; we have people out openly calling for assassination of the POTUS, a Military Coup, etc.
Then you have the Bundy's who never in all their time hurt anyone. Caused only minor property damage and the whole bunch is locked up and one of their team was given the Ruby Ridge treatment. Does not look like equal justice under the law.
The Patriot/Liberty community quickly split with the Bundy's and a lot of them openly said this is not how to do things. I'm not really hearing that today. In fact it's the opposite. BHO even came out and said he likes what he sees, didn't disown the violence either.

All true add to that Mr. Science is engaging in the party switch myth an argument with less scientific basis behind it than Noah's Ark or intelligent design.C-Mag wrote:clubgop wrote:

Re: The Left Does not Reason
In the 1860s and 70s Republicans and Democrats vied for the new western states. The republican federal expansions were good for big businesses like banks and railroads but they left the farmers out west with little. Both parties wished to seize the new voting bloc, so they tried to appeal to the westerners through federally funded social programs and benefits. The Democrats stuck with this strategy, while republicans slowly went counter for hands off government. Republicans essentially remained a party of big business though, because once all the infrastructure was finished big businesses didn't want big government anymore. In the 1930s the Republican position was hardened by the opposition to the New Deal.C-Mag wrote:Can someone lay out the party switch theory.jbird4049 wrote:Why not?
