Re: The Era of Biden
Well, when the assessments differ it's time to turn to the age-old oracle of empirical evidence.
Perpare the Octogon, Capps.
Two men enter, one comes out.
May the jock-iest man win.

like you say, men battle test their friendshipsStCapps wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 9:44 ambarsSmitty-48 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 9:42 amI could not get along with Grumpy in an OP for weeks on end
nobody in my unit could
in my unit, Grumpy would just get beaten to a pulp in the mess
he doesn't listen, he doesn't follow, he doesn't have self awareness, he's a dickhead
and yet even tho I can't stand Monte's politics, I just get along with him, come what may
so true
they invoke duress, to see how another man reacts to that
Grumpy just keeps failing the test, he's like a female, he doesn't mix well with the Jocks

Jock is Scots vernacular, translated into American, it means Grunt

He definitely has agility - given his background in juggling.
But he's in his 50s.
And SF is in his 30's and "well built".
Giving up two decades and significant muscle mass is no small disadvantage.
But we'll see.

Re: The Era of Biden
that's what I thought on the first day of Infantry Section Commanders Course
there were all these big guys on parade, muscle heads
over one hundred men on parade on the first day, I was like, whoa, I am out of my league here
on the last day, there were only fourteen of us left standing
none of the big guys were there, they had all fallen by the roadside on the way

Played tackle football for years without pads. Grew up in a working class Florida neighborhood. Beat the shit out of the only bully that ever tried me.
Worked manual labor for years. Remodeled a
Floor of my house, and I’ve been gardening a quarter acre by hand for years now.
A half hour ago, I accepted a fully remote job to free myself completely, and completed a tripling of my income over 10 years.
I’m on top of the world, jack. You can’t slow me down, can’t stop me.

I remember a buddy, Greg Phillips
he was a super athlete, captain of every sports team he had been on
it was sleep deprivation that broke him
literally on the last night of ISCC, the last night before they called endex
he just turns to me, says, man, I can't take this, I quit
I was like, no man, we're so close, don't quit now
but he just got up and walked away, told the instructors he wanted to quit
I was too tired to argue with him, but I saw after, that it was my failure, I should have stopped him
