However, when we contacted Officer Scott C. Earhardt, he said that he had mistakenly mixed up the annual D.C.-based March for Life rally that happened in January with the more recent March for Our Lives demonstration in the email.

Earhardt told PolitiFact that the story is not factual and that the permit for March for Our Lives was issued on March 13.

Thanks Arc.............. and Welcome to the board !

These things leave you wondering. Politifacts explanation seems plausible. And I find it interesting who organized it.
An application for a permit organized by Los Angeles-based television producer and co-executive director of the Women’s March Los Angeles Foundation, Deena Katz, was submitted on Feb. 20.
When I clicked the link for the Feb 20 submission, I thought I was going to see a copy of the original Approved application with a Federal Employees approving signature. It's probably the right form, but how do we know it was approved ? The other guy at least had an official email. Other than that, we pretty have to go on the word of the 2 opposing parties.

The West places a very high value on the individual. This led our ancestors to opt to annihilate entire peoples rather than risk a few of our own.

For most people aside from us and China, warfare is mostly ritualistic. When they encounter us, they cannot really compete with the totality and finality of our paradigm of warfare.

We would rather rain nuclear bombs across Japan than invade.

VDH explains it well in Carnage and Culture.

I mostly agree with his viewpoint, but what do you think about the uber competitiveness and drive for more in the West and settled society vs. more hunter-gather-herder societies? Is it all essentially the same in your view? The hunters just aren't "efficient" at it and desire hording and holding as much as any settled civilization?

It was no less competitive in other places. The high value of the individual combined with relative freedom of thought made a big difference, but I suspect those are genetic traits, honestly.

So do you think all humans are essentially more competitive than cooperative? Mutual benefit, aid, and/or cooperation doesn't really exist or play a large role in human character traits?

How about a stabbing? 22 victims don't count because it wasn't an "assault rifle" that was responsible?

Twenty-two people were injured when a 16-year-old boy went on a stabbing rampage at a Pennsylvania high school early Wednesday, leaving five students in critical condition, authorities said.
Maybe it isn't the guns after all?

Of course it isn't guns...

But if a kid with that much determination had managed to get a hold of an AR-15 you can bet there would be more than 5 kids in critical condition.

Sporting rifles are overrated for that type of thing, really.

Something like a Saiga-12 with a few twenty round drum magazines would be fucking awful.
