Actually it will prolly be the Boeing USS Discovery.
Boeing becomes the big civilian spaceship builder.
Lockheed Martin is the big military spaceship builder, with Northrop Grumman
The Lockheed Martin/Northrop Grumman USS Shiloh

For the ESA, the Russian super space contractor Soyuz builds the heavy duty equipment.
The French contractor Thales provides the high tech systems to go onboard.

At some point I was going to have a revolution in Europe
As the EU starts to lose to the USA, the Communists overthrow the NazBols. Commie Spring.
They reestablish the USSR. This is even more aggressively hostile towards America.
America is the last bulwark against the Word Socialist Revolution and their Post Scarcity Utopia to the stars.
America meanwhile carries with the commercial model, homesteading shareholders.

One of the sources of conflict in space is that are parallel colonies side by side.
It's a bunch of East and West Berlins.
People can defect in either direction.
Some defectors are fleeing the Panoptican to American freedom.
American traitors of course flee in the other direction.
Both sides try to extract their defectors from other side,
This can lead to contact and shots fired.

In terms of the Asteroid Belt War : Asteroids are the Ocean.
You need a medium to be proxy for water, so you have something to provide cover and concealment.
So the warships are playing cat and mouse out in the Asteroid Sea.
It's Cold War, so like now, it's mostly just trying to track/remain up in the saddle against the other guys warships.
This is where you're going to see the Gundam's start to be deployed. It's a wearable spacewarship
The Spacefleets and Gundam's operate from bases in the Asteroid Sea.
The Gundam's start off as Space Marines in exoskeletons, but both sides just keep building bigger and meaner versions.

The Gundam's are made in Japan, the Japanese make the Gundam's real.
They build them for the Globalists.
So America has to respond by building the American Gundam.
The early American Gundam is called a Minuteman. Miniuteman I Minuteman II Minuteman III
Then America designs a new generation American Gundam called Apollo

Nah, we’ll be on mars in a few years. Permanent colony in 20.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 10:17 amIf we're going for as much realism as possible I can't see us any further out than the moon in 100 years.
To be honest, I can't imagine there being more than 1000 people off the planet. Most craft will be fully autonomous unmanned vehicles.
Mining, construction and defense will all be AI tech.
What are humans going to be doing? Even maintenance is going to be automated so there's no reason to put all those expensive life support systems in the spacecraft or on the colonies.
After that, the solar system gets a lot less friendly, so we probably stop there for a long long time.

Just like with the Gundam universe, the Gundam's and Apollos can mount attachments.
You can have a Gundam with the weapons platform ship as an attachment.
The Gundam can then detach and operate separately with the platform in support.
There can be Gundam Carriers, troop ships for Gundam's and Apollos

Once again Grumpy is wrong, Mars is rough terrain because there is no magnetosphereSuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 11:18 amNah, we’ll be on mars in a few years. Ganymede is much friendlier because it has a magnetosphere. Titan is much friendlier because it could be terraformed,
Mars will simply become a big test lab for colonization, but just as with the Voyager missions, the destination is Jupiter and Saturn.
