Re: "Liberating" Vuvuzela, A War I Can Get Behind
Bear in mind that CENTCOM bombed the shit out of the Russian KCCO in Syria not too long ago.
No doubt Ivan is looking for the first opportunity to pay America back for that.
In Syria there is no cover, but in Venezuela they have human shields and proxies to be cannon fodder for them.

You tell Americans that they are fighting a Russian-backed dictator within a days drive from the US and you'll have Antifa-Militia forming up in days.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 11:59 amVenezuela does have an air force, but it would be suicide for them to fight the Americans, so I bet they wouldn't
There might be a couple jets sent up to be shot down, but I bet the air force would decline to die for Maduro.
So this would be more like a Panama Just Cause type scenario, just on a bigger scale.
The way to counter it would be Black Hawk Down and Benghazi.
Inflict a bunch of American casualties by shooting down helicopters and killing the troops in ambushes.
America loses its taste for invasion and pulls out as in Somalia.
In terms of support, the Russian KCCO is already on the ground, the MANPADS are a dime a dozen to the Russians.
You might not have the best feel for the level of American zeal right now. Literally, 88% of trump voters would breakout the Brown Shirts tomorrow if a clear path forward were to be laid out.
We lose a dozen troops to a Russian Manpad and we'll go all in before the public would have time to react.
Trump is going big, and if he backs off Maduro now we'd be the biggest cuck in the world. Its one thing to let Assad push you around on the other side of the world but if let this tin pot to survive we might as well pack it in and call it an empire. I mean, if we can't keep the pimp hand strong this close to home, why would anyone fear us again.
We would literally be saying to the rest of the world, "if you don't like being fucked with by the US, just invite in Russia".

I'm not saying Maduro would win, toppling Maduro is a foregone conclusion if Operation Just Cause 2.0
I'm just thinking what Maduro would try to do in the face of it, as he was taken down.
And how the Russians could use this as their chance to pay SOCOM back for the bombing of KCCO.

We're leaning on them pretty hard with the digital war right now.
Keeping the lights off might be enough to bring about a change.
Hard to think we don't own their entire network.
Probably the best thing Russia could do for Maduro is get the damn lights back on.

I'm not expecting an American invasion. I'm simply speculating as to what the Russians are doing, in case of.

I don't think the Russians are that worried about Maduro falling.
I think the Russians will still have a client in Venezuela even if it is a more America friendly regime.
Russian military kit is cheap, they will be able to sell to the Venezuelans long after Maduro.
In terms of a military base for the Russians, it's too far from the US to be of much use.
If the Russians are going to attack the CONUS, it's going to be by submarines.

Seems they would be at such a logistical disadvantage that after a couple of surprise attacks they wouldn't be able to replace the loses they would suffer.
I guess the real question is, what is the Venezuelan fighting spirit like?
You think they'd stick around after a Shock and Awe?

Yeah, but its about the oil and if Russian troops allow Venezuela to do as it pleases with its oil, that'd be the real purpose.

Most of them would fold immediately, chieu hoi on the spot.kybkh wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 12:30 pmSeems they would be at such a logistical disadvantage that after a couple of surprise attacks they wouldn't be able to replace the loses they would suffer.

Maduro would have his regime dead enders tho, they have loyal commies who have nothing to lose.
The KCCO is Russian JSOC, they would just operate from the shadows providing technical support.

The Russians don't want Venezuelan oil. The Russians have oil coming out of their ears.
Venezuela coming back on line would lower the oil price. The Russians don't want that.
It's only China who is after oil. Russia is a Saudi Arabia of oil, so oil is not their problem.
