Siding with because they are avoiding the spectacle which, by default, means the National Anthem will no longer be televised. Heckler's veto, of sorts.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Sat Aug 18, 2018 3:44 pmHow could that possibly be seen as siding with the protestors? Did you mean to type “against”?

ESPN is suspect to folks who want to see Sports sans Politics. To them, this will be seen as making a statement against the Anthem. They've put themselves in this position by not enforcing the rules of the game.
The NFL always previously punished politicization of the game. ESPN used to be focused on the sport not the politics surrounding it.

I thought ESPN focused on pithy comments about sports.C-Mag wrote: ↑Sat Aug 18, 2018 4:08 pm

I watched ESPN for the first time in I don't know how long to see the Hawaii squad advance in the LLWS. They beat my old neighbor kid's team Tri City last week. I was somewhat torn on who to root for.

Just came home from the gym. Right now ESPN is broadcasting little league sports. Yesterday it was some girl's sports.
Nobody gives a shit about this stuff.
On the weekdays when I show up to the lockerroom, there is some show from Miami where some Cuban dudes are getting political and virtue signalling about feminism or whatever.
Fuck ESPN.
Remember when their alternative programming was cool sports like the running of the bulls? I am personally not a fan of dudes torturing bulls to death in an arena, but bulls goring drunk dudes at that jacknife turn is fucking glorious.

They almost had me with Shaq threatening to beat people into comas all the time, but I think they reigned him in.

When my country fried steak and gravy came to the table, PR was beating Australia, 4-0.
