Re: President for Life
@victor...
Ask yourself why you fear marriage.
Does it have to do with something in the actual relationship?
If so, you might want to deal with underlying problems in the relationship... Marriage won't solve those problems.
Make sure you aren't brushing relationship problems under the rug.
Maybe your partner feels marriage will solve those problems...
It won't.
Alternatively the marriage fears may have nothing to do with the relationship... They may be based on the family you grew up in, or the culture, or merely reading horror stories on the internet.
I,f in fact the relationship is strong, then committing yourself to stick with it and work problems out as they come up is what marriage is actually all about.
If you doubt that your partner is willing to do this and truly expect she will fleece you as soon as you hit a few bumps in the road... then cut your losses now.
But hedging on the commitment in the long term is a sure way to keep yourself from experiencing the real depths of a relationship and that would be a shame. It takes courage to make a relationship work.
Good luck, bro.

Odd to see folks screaming about the death of white western civ one moment and in the next breath trying to convince people that its not worth the risk to attempt nuclear families.

Re: President for Life
It's not, though.
Like I said, there are two options here:
(1) Walk away from the table and let the race die, and western civilization along with it.
(2) Restrain women from fucking civilization up even further.
(1) is an individual act. One can preserve himself from calamity by walking away. He need only convince himself of it. (2) requires that most men stop simping themselves to women, and that doesn't look likely before it's too late.
So.. it's really down to (1) unless we can convince men to stop pandering to women.

Or just do your own thing, and don't trade romance for concerns over The State of Humanity. There's only so much that you can get yourself worked up over, before you're damaging yourself for nothing.Speaker to Animals wrote:It's not, though.

They can be thrown out quite often, with little to no good reason.Kath wrote:Prenup? Keep in mind that despite what happens in family court, something like only 5% of divorce cases end up there. Most divorces are quite amicable.Viktorthepirate wrote:

My divorce was a split 50/50 - we went through all the stuff together even. It was a rough time, but we didn't want to be hateful; just separate with the least drama possible.
On my final (second) marriage now; it wasn't even a question; two months in we already knew it was forever. Still, we waited four years before marrying. Nerd's not going anywhere and neither am I. Ridiculously happy, we are.
Google Elizabeth Petrakis
She wants to marry, being a smart guy he naturally is wary that she could be after his money. She doesn't want to sign a prenup, but he says there is no way they are getting married with out one, so she reluctantly agrees.
Well, come several kids later, she hits the wall and wants a divorce. She claims the prenup is the reason for their marriage falling apart, even though she never was forced into it. She could have always refused the marriage and refused the prenup. But those were his conditions and she accepted it.
Well it turns out she was full of shit. She was cheating on her husband with her cousin's husband. When her cousin comes out against her with this, she has no option but to admit to it. But she still insists her affair wasn't the reason for the marriage falling apart, oh no, she still insists it was the pre-nup.
Here's the real kicker:
She tells the judge that her husband had promised her he would get rid of the prenup after they had children. That's what she says, that he made an oral agreement with her. She has no proof of this promise or this oral agreement, its just his word against hers.
Well the judge believes her, and throws out the prenup, and now she is entitled to half his money, even after she cheated on him, even after he thought he was safe by signing a prenup.

I don't mind if she takes all my "stuff". I can get new stuff.Martin Hash wrote:Even if you lost everything in a divorce: next... And if you got kids out of the first marriage, that's worth a lot.
Life is a series of lucky events: you were lucky you found a woman long enough to get married at least. Maybe that one will work out, which would be fairytale-like, or maybe you have to try again for a second lucky event.
Further advice:
Retiring at 36 just means you don't have to work for anybody. There's no way you sit around all day playing dominos and golf at 36; you'll end up starting a business, which is worse than any bad marriage I assure you.
I don't want to have to come out of retirement because she took everything AND I owe alimony. It's literal slavery. Losing stuff sucks, but it's the slavery I can't abide.
It is funny you said that. The deal with my president is that I'm taking my money and I'm gone after 5 years to some tropical locale. I describe it like that office space scene, ask yourself what you would do if you were retired, and you'll know what career you should have. My answer is nothing ha ha. I am killing myself working ridiculous hours and constantly traveling (LA, Seattle, Reno, Detroit just next week) so that I never need to work again. Work hard now so I don't later.
What my president said is similar to your advice. He said: "I believe that you believe you will retire".
He insists I won't be able to do nothing, He wants me to stick around for phase 2. I obviously beg to differ, and want to be drinking beer on a beach without a care in the world. It's what I've always wanted.
Bringing it back to marriage, I lose all my hopes and dreams in one divorce. Everything I've worked and sacrificed for isn't just gone, it's stolen, someone else benefits from all that and I'm broke. I'd rather kill myself.
Again, she's a wonderful woman, always been there for me, loves me unconditionally even though I'm a jerk, and gone all the time. I love her.

They aren't arguing over your Jeep. Women will argue over whether they have the right to enslave you.
