So you’re saying that I can’t have Western civilization without murdering babies? Are you sure about that?Kath wrote:Not disingenuous - that's literally the law they follow. I was just trying to help you separate yourself from a country where abortion is legal. You have choices.Xenophon wrote:
Miscarriages are not the same thing as abortion. If a tree falls on someone because the wind is blowing, you don’t charge the landowner for murder. You’re being intentionally disingenuous.

One of the great things about liberty is that you can move around until you find a place you like.
Pro-hint: if you think you have to change the way people around you live, you haven't found the right place yet.

I agree with you, but I think there should be a clear separation so that legislation lobbied for by one group doesn’t effect non-consenting groups of opposing ideology.Martin Hash wrote:One of the great things about liberty is that you can move around until you find a place you like.

If you don't want an abortion, don't have one. There. You aren't effected.Xenophon wrote:

If you don't want slavery, then don't buy slaves. Problem solved.

That’s where democracy comes in. Through the Tyranny of the majority, you can wrest some violence from the State to pursue your aims, otherwise, your only choice is to move or face that violence.

Democracy is too inconsistent for my taste.Martin Hash wrote:That’s where democracy comes in. Through the Tyranny of the majority, you can wrest some violence from the State to pursue your aims, otherwise, your only choice is to move or face that violence.
EDIT: I should clarify. Without a baseline of common values, democracy is inconsistent and destructive. Multiculturalism dilutes that common baseline. You can’t have democracy without a willingness to compromise. As viewpoints have shifted away from traditional values, there can be no compromise between the hedonist and the moralist. Conceding a point on either side of the extremes just allows your enemy to gain ground on you.

That’s true. I plan to move when the Marxists get control. Keep us up-to-date on the good hedonistic places as you’re looking around for somewhere moralistic to land.
