Huh? He's clearly saying that the building has been there so long that it's part of the French heritage as well as being a house of worship. That's absolutely true. For example, St. Patrick's is both a house of worship and part of NYC heritage. No one questions something so obvious. Historically important religious structures are important in both senses all over the world.

Notre Dame is a historic house of worship built in Paris hundreds of years ago. It has meaning to the people of Paris outside of its religious role. Your response to the people of France mourning the loss of one of their most iconic structures is both irrational and offensive. Notre Dame belongs to them, not you. It's part of their history, not yours. You've never lost an iconic part of your city, you have no idea how they feel, and no right to tell them how to feel about their cathedral.

And now you're trying to lay claim to a historic building on another continent. The crazy is too much. Especially since the religion teaches that your place is not here at all and that the body of Christ is the people, not a building. You're not even following the most basic teachings. You're also forgetting that the structure of a church was historically the center of cultural and social life in a parish. Churches are human creations and have a unique place in many cultures outside their religious function.
