I guess that just brings it back to whether or not SCOTUS deigns to hear a cert.

It is going to be tough for Trump's team if they are just trying to get the legislator to send GOP electors to DC without proving there are enough contested ballots in Wayne county to affect the outcome.

It all comes back to getting hard numbers on fraud before SCOTUS hears a case, and they seem to keep kicking that can down the road.

I thought we agreed the goal wasn’t to reverse the outcome; it’s to deny certification.

If it goes to SCOTUS, the question before the court wants to be one of Trump’s making.

Yeah, if it goes to SOCUTS it will be about having enough votes to reverse the outcome because I don't think SCOTUS wants to turn this into a referendum on the legality faithless electors, writ-large. Neither Trump's team nor a conservative SCOTUS want to be on the hook for that. Dems might like it, though.

If Trump's goal is to stay in office, he is going to have to thread a very difficult needle of: either getting state legislators to send faithless electors without a court getting involved, or making it impossible for the states to send electors by questioning the validity of ballots (which I am not even sure is a real option) without getting a court involved, since there just isn't the time to get enough evidence of fraud.

At least - that is how it looks like to me - not a lawyer, but a law fanboi.

Either or both of WI & PA + AZ’s governor has floated the possibility. NV has lots of smoke too. GA maybe?

AZ is going to be tough since they will have to switch to arguing suppression instead of fraudulent ballots. Runs against the whole strategy.

So apparently Dominion is not legally connected to Smartmatic, but they did buy up a former Smartmatic subsidiary which formed the code basis of the current Dominion vote machine.

Smartmatic was heavily involved with funny shit in Venezuela.

I used to play a lot of Hearts with my grandparents. My grandpa was a fucking wizard at shooting the moon.

The thing about shooting the moon is not letting anyone know you are doing it until it is too late for them to stop you. Once they figure it out you don't have four people playing for themselves, you have three people playing against you.

Trump is trying to shoot the moon. He isn't trying to prove there are enough fraudulent votes to flip any states.

Ahh, but here is the thing. He's not playing hearts; he's playing spades, and he has to say he is shooting for the moon.

The difference is he doesn't have all the spades. He has all the face cards and a 10. Not enough to get a guaranteed win, but enough to hope his partner has the remaining cards.

Otherwise, we are hoping the other team fucks up enough and overplays their hand where Trump can squeak out a win.

Spades is a game that rewards caution.
