I already had the NY Review of Books article loaded in a pile of tabs-to-read, but will check out the Politico one.

What exactly do you mean when you say "the CNN narrative"? I only read their initial article, which was practically written by lawyers to make sure they made no conclusions. I don't watch the TV news, so I'm thinking there's been a lot of opinion and conjecture on CNN about "what this means"?

BBC's Paul Wood has been working on this story for months, and wasn't going to publish until he had more. CNN/Buzzfeed pulled the trigger on that, so his reporting currently seems the most researched and sourced outside of the Orbis document.

BBC - Trump 'compromising' claims: How and why did we get here?

That is just a shit post aimed at CNN. They are clearly acting as the mouthpiece for this narrative of Russian hacking.

Hell, I got the nybook article off of Chris Haye's Twitter feed.

Understood. Wasn't sure if I missed something CNN was doing on-the-air, or if you just meant the intent of their article vis-a-vis the intent of their source.

Ooohh, People are mad and think that I trust this as truth (as I obviously hate so much Trump if I'm not praising him all the time). Yeah, just to say that actually the same newscoop/fake news was around during the election seems to be too much.

Well, let's take the most obvious to me here what is fishy.

So an ex-MI6 operative that has started an Consulting Company makes for a reasonalbe sum this kind of dossier.

Right.

Perhaps the actual MI6, or perhaps even American IC might be better informed than ...one retired operative. The "dossier" founds that there has been links to Trump for years. Perhaps the American IC community would likely know of this, as likely this kind of info would be shared.

Anyway, no matter how it is, you bet that Trump will have a difficult relationship with the American intelligence community and vice versa, even if it's the guys Trump has picked in charge and be the truth whatever.

Then, let's take here what is clear.

That is that Trump has a totally unique and strange relationship with one country and it's leader and some people loosely linked around him are very strange fish in an republican environment. And people started especially question Carter Page and Paul Manafort actually before they were frontline news (even if Carter Page never made it there). I don't think this mess will go away just like that. Likely Trump's path is similar as Bill Clinton, from one scandal to another by a hostile press. But anyway, Dubya and Obama were boring in this way.

I think in the end Putin wins.

What does Putin win? California? (we could only be so lucky) Lithuania? MENA? Being the #1 target of ISIS?

What do Russians win and what do Americans lose?

If the US President is weak or has this scandal following him, that is a good thing for Putin.

Then again, if Putin has "close ties" to Trump as some argue, then Putin wins too.

And Russia hasn't been targetting so much ISIS. Terrorism is far down in importance in Russia's doctrine. It's only the Americans who are focusing so much on terrorism.

The "scandal" is being ginned up by the Democrats and their Cuck buddies in Congress to undermine their own President, so they are the real enemies here, Putin would just be exploiting the sedition of the Democucks against their own CinC.

The people engaged in "Active Measures" against the will of the American electorate, are not in the Kremlin, they're in Washington.

The traitors are all in the ranks, not across the trace in Europe.
