oh, I agree completely. I just stopped posting because if an article is posted that goes against Nuke's preconceived narrative, he shouts fake until the poster shuts up.Xenophon wrote:
Just a general statement here: In my estimation, real news can be found when the content of it adheres to objective, observable facts; rather than a popular narrative. This goes for whoever is peddling it.
A fake news site posts something Nuke agrees with, and suddenly, it's no longer fake news.
It's a miracle!

It's all a game at this point.
The old Fox News gambit of "editorial" versus "real news".
CNN is noting but editorial news now.
The fact that every story generated by the Wash. Post isn't prefixed with: The owner of the WP has a billion dollar contract with the CIA shows the lack of integrity in reporting.
If all of you are not LITERALLY scared of what the Obama appointed CIA is doing then you aren't paying attention.
How the CIA has risen to the pinnacle of truth tellers to hippy-dippy leftist is beyond my comprehension. Amazing really. Cognitive dissonance is real and dangerous...especially to those with high opinions of themselves.

Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
Most of the "news" reports I've seen seem to be lacking quite a bit of perspective when it comes to this Ford deal.
Those 700 jobs pale in comparison to the jobs Mexico will be getting. Sure, Michigan is getting a $600M plant upgrade to build electric pickup trucks and other EV novelties - presumably in exchange for tax breaks, green credits, or or whatever backroom deals Ford managed to get from their sponsored politicians. Meanwhile, Ford is still moving ahead with moving their entire small car production to Mexico... yep, fake news has made it sound like this Ford announcement is a huge victory for US manufacturing when the reality is that its just a big shell game. I suspect that the $1.6B Mexico plan was pure BS all along - leverage for negotiating a better tax deal and/or a PR stunt to make them sound awesome for "cancelling" it? Perhaps they are hoping that patriots, pumped by buzzfeed and Trump tweets will be lining up at the car dealers in their MAGA hats to buy Mexican built Fords to show how much they support "built in the USA".

Perception != Reality
See the OCE brouhaha.
It's almost like thinking critically is becoming... well, a critical skill these days.

Most companies don't announce plans for $1.6 bil outlay "for leverage". Such investments are considered by investors and can have relevant impacts on the price of stock and a multitude of forecasts.Henchman wrote:Most of the "news" reports I've seen seem to be lacking quite a bit of perspective when it comes to this Ford deal.

See that underlined comments below. You don't just roll that out there hoping for a tax break.
Ford Motor Co. plans to spend $1.6 billion on a new car factory in Mexico, the latest in a series of auto industry investments flowing south of the border, and an investment that would help the Dearborn, Mich., company double its Mexican production starting in 2018.
It is the second big expansion announcement for Ford in Mexico in a year. The No. 2 U.S. auto maker last April outlined $2.5 billion in factory investments in Mexico, part of a wider plan to add 6,600 jobs in the country over the next few years. The new plant, in the central Mexican state of San Luis Potosi, would build small cars the company is struggling to sell at a profit.

It was pretty awesome listening to CNN try to attack Trump for this. 'Sure Trump may have kept 700 people employed but is this just a company currying favor with PEOTUS'??
Failing to mention...
Ford received a $5.9 billion U.S. loan commitment in 2009 to retool 11 factories in five states to deliver fuel-efficient technologies. The loan was credited with creating or saving 33,000 jobs and including hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of work to convert a Wayne, Mich., plant to make small cars, electric vehicles and hybrids, which would now be shifted to Mexico. Labor rates in Mexico for auto factory workers are about one-fifth of those paid to union workers in the U.S.
That's a great article by the way...
Mexico has lured tens of billions of dollars in new auto investments in recent years, attracting BMW AG, Volkswagen AG, Toyota, Honda Motor Co., Kia Motors Corp., Daimler AG and the Detroit Three. Last year, auto factories in Mexico produced about 3.4 million vehicles, or about one-fifth of North American production, according to data provider LMC Automotive. That figure is expected to jump 53% by 2019.

It's not just the jobs of the people who will be working in the factory. It's the jobs of the people who build the factory. Or the contractors and tradesmen who maintain it. It's the jobs of the people who sell goods and services to the factory workers purchase with the income from those jobs.
It's actually a pretty big deal, especially for Michigan.
