We're doing it this way out of necessity (Canadian immigration), and we plan to have a real wedding in the next year for families and all of that, but I'm sharing a lot of the concerns and anxieties presented in the last couple posts. I feel like this is right and the obstructions in our way to being with one another are just minor inconveniences.

That being said, we've decided to keep our finances somewhat separate in an attempt to keep things simple and avoid future headaches. We're equal partners who are paying for almost everything jointly, including the fees associated with immigration.

Shit's nerve wracking, but I know in my heart it's right. And if it's not, well... Starter marriage with dual citizenship as a perk.

Oh, and news flash, guys, that's exactly how most females approach marriage.

They marry and divorce for resources and security.
