Andrew went through Florida east-west at the southern tip, it basically just passed through (at Cat 5 strength) on it's way to Louisiana. Irma is taking direct aim at Florida and running through it south-north. They best hope it isn't Cat 5 at landfall, that would be epically bad.Penner wrote:

Well, it's projected to be a Cat 4 by the time it hits the tip of Florida. Now there is a really good possibility that the storm surge can happen at both coasts (east and west) at the same time because Irma is huge and then it's projected to stay over land and move into (eventually) South Carolina when it will probably be downgraded to a tropical storm status (although, it is projected to also hit Jacksonville and be like a Cat 2 or a Cat 1).
Edit:
Here is another picture that they are releasing to the public:

Also, Irma is fucking huge as well.

I'm surprised it's maintained strength for as long as it has, truly a remarkable storm, thankfully for the US it got too powerful too early and they won't be getting the worst of it.

Still, a Cat 4 that can engulf the entire state would be something to take note of, IMO.

This is Irma compared side by side with Andrew, keep in mind Andrew went through Florida real quick at the southern tip, and Irma is coming right for em'.

We just need an EQ somewhere now. Wild fires on the west coast already.

I once heard Cascade is due for another volcanic reputation and a massive earthquake.

Yellowstone has been acting up a little for the past year or so. Or it could just be edgy LARPers blowing it out of proportion. I never go in those threads.
