Re: Europe, the not boring thread
my middle school science teachers would send you to the principal's office for even mentioning God in their classroom. my seventh grade biology teacher took every opportunity to openly deride faith.
coming from the country, into suburban atlanta, it was the first time i encountered open hostility to faith in the classroom.
a friend of mine was brought into the principal's office for saying grace in the cafeteria, and was told to never do it again.
that was twenty years ago.

Re: Europe, the not boring thread
Seeing as we're on the topic of evolution in the classroom:

So... now only young people going on to study biology at college in Turkey will be the only ones to be taught about the "controversial" theory of evolution. Nothing like governments mandating that "its" children are more delicate than they've apparantly been for decades, and declaring that they all need safe spaces free from dangerously "controversial" micro-aggressions.Alpaslan Durmus, the head of curriculum for the ministry of education, said that Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution was “controversial” and would be removed from school programmes by 2019.
“We have excluded controversial subjects for students at an age unable yet to understand the issues’ scientific background,” Mr Durmus said.
As the students at ninth grade are not endowed with antecedents to discuss the ‘Origin of Life and Evolution’ section in biology classes, this section will be delayed until undergraduate study.”
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.

That's because deconstruction never stopped. We don't have that problem in Texas. Mexicans are doing it for them.Okeefenokee wrote:my middle school science teachers would send you to the principal's office for even mentioning God in their classroom. my seventh grade biology teacher took every opportunity to openly deride faith.

Some rich GOP supporter should pay for this family to come to the US and become citizens - that would make a great add - have that kid say in front a a camera he really would have been dead under a single-payer system....
