In fact, it would. I don't know what the cutoff is, but if you maintain residence in a foreign land, you are eventually 'of that land'. It pains me to say it, but I am, officially, an Ohioan. (ugh)
Just means I have to raise the bar for what an Ohioan is.

In fact, no. That batshittery only applies to the West. You can live in China your whole damned life and you will forever be an outsider.

That looks delicious but I'd have trouble naming it as it's not sautéed or parmentier potatoes due to the irregular cut neither cubed nor sliced. Fried potato hash possibly? Hash simply meaning chopped.
In NJ we call them home fries.
Where I am from, home fries seem to be more like potato chunks:

Nonsense, to become a French citizen I would have to renounce my British nationality and apply for French citizenship which I would never do even if by some impossible chance Nigel Farage were to be made PM.
It is possible that residency after as little as 3 years would give me the chance to play Rugby for France but I'd rather die than do that and I'm too old to play the International game now anyway.

I like the chunkier ones better. When they get too small I think they're more like hash browns and they lose the potato flavor.

You know there once was a line in Star Trek about how Ireland voted to be reunited, and then it was banned by the UK government because of that line. With Brexit I think that by 2024 we may get an Irish unification voted in.
I didn't know that about Star Trek.
You could be right about a unified Ireland and to be honest if the Northern Irish voted for it I would have no objection to it as the only justification for a divided Ireland is the will of the people of NI to remain in the UK.

In Michigan diners, those are called cottage fries or, more recently, American fries.

At home, they're 'fried potatoes'.

Frenchie has a place in France, how cute.
To be fair I didn't choose to have a place in France I just inherited it when my Dad died and my sister and I have chosen not to sell it. It's a nice country to visit and Aquitaine is full of lovely castles. I might even retire there myself eventually. There are huge numbers of British ex pats in that part of the country because it is nice and cheap to buy property. You can buy a huge country house for £100k and the booze is dirt cheap too.
On my favorite curio website Messy Nessy Chic she posted some French country mansions that were like 50% of the price of this fucking townhouse I'm buying right now.

How are prices in Biarritz?
