The stuff that really offends me is when you see these crusty old neocons saying things like "I have no reason to disbelieve the women." Really?? Then what, pray tell, is his reason to disbelieve the man who stands accused? Does he believe the accuser because of her vagina and automatically disbelieves the man because he rocks a penis? People like that don't deserve to be anywhere near levers of power.

And a simple survey of history should indicate to any reasonable person that believing the woman instead of the man as a matter of course is probably the worst possible heuristic most likely to result in injustice.

This really is Salem Witch Trials level stupidity here. If these people were on the jury in To Kill of Mocking Bird, the innocent man would have hung.

Salem witch hunt wasn’t about witches. It was about stomping down women who didn’t follow “religious” followings of women being subvent to men.

I’m curious what you see here to be optimistic about. Those old structures have held the western world together for generations.
