I'm exempt from knife laws as I can demonstrate I use them for work. I used to do an occasional days work at the local football stadium and would often wander onto the terrace with a bag full of knives after I'd finished my shift. They never check your bag on the way out.....luckily.

I suppose a serated knife makes sense if you don't know how to sharpen a blade, otherwise they are useful for slicing bread and nothing else.
