I was just thinking of this lonliness in historical context, thinking of isolated monks, early fur traders, sodbusters, etc.

The monks and the fur traders had other monks and fur traders.
They sat every night by the fire with their comrades.
They sang songs or hymns.
They ate together, they were part of a community.

This is not the modern world.
I'm with Kath in that there is not much to be done about this other than waking up to the fact that this is an issue and seeing if we can commit to reinvesting in real world, not just digital, communities.

Other wise the blight of depression, psychopharm, weed consumption, obesity and bla bla bla... will continue unabated...
This is the opposite of claiming victimhood.
