a reverse migration back to the countryside is one of the best options I see on the horizon. people never left the countryside until industrialization needed them, and now that it doesn't need them anymore, the majority need to go back.

The exact opposite is happening. Young people are moving to the city where there are more amenities, leaving an increasingly aging population in the countryside and suburbs.

You are not right on this. Sure that may be the migration on the eastern seaboard when they are not leaving all together. But overall nationwide take a look at a census the Northeast is dying.
