Something to maintain muscle mass without bulking up?
I'm only doing this because I want super powers.

Also, running. I agree with Okie.
Personally, to get from being bed-ridden in debilitating pain to where I am now, I mainly do:\
weight lifting
calisthenics
running
I did have swimming in there, but I can't afford a car payment and the membership to the pool, and the pool at the gym is used by degenerate people, so I have no intention of sharing water with them.

Not long before I got out of the Army, I got to where my knees would start hurting pretty bad after a couple miles. I got a bike to keep the impact down. Can't wait til I'm ten minutes from a lake and can go out and row. The swimming area at Stillhouse lake looks a little too small to do any laps.Speaker to Animals wrote:Also, running. DB, am I okay with drinking a twelve pack of bud select? The label says 1.9 carbs per bottle.
Today I had red link sausage for breakfast, chicken breast and salami for lunch, avocado for dinner. I think pretty much zero carbs.
Just a little over 20 carbs in one day seems to fall in line with the 20-100 carbs guideline.

20 and below is only really important in the first couple weeks. You can get the same ketogenic benefits at like 50g carbs a day if you're running 5 miles a day

That's the point. Drinking never stopped me from running, but what I got tonight carries 22.8g carbs.skankhunt42 wrote:If you can avoid the poison (alcohol).California wrote:You should be fine.Okeefenokee wrote:DB, am I okay with drinking a twelve pack of bud select? For sure you can still do it, but the alcohol still converts into sugar. I'm not saying you can't drink while losing weight, I'm just saying if you want to maximize results, if you can, don't.Okeefenokee wrote:That's the point. Re: The diet of Metas - Ketogenic
Did anyone ever read this book?
I think that it's actually kind of good. We really don't need a lot of carbs nor surges in our diet. At best he says something like no more than 10% or maybe 20% of our diet, at best, should be made out of carbs. But he did say that we should avoid carbs the most because our bodies weren't made of a large intake of carbs in our diet.
What he says is that we should increase vegetable intake by like 50%+ intake.

They fill up my muscles, though. Without carbs, muscles look flatter. Carbs are not that bad if you actually lift weights and improve yourself every week. They get put to good use. But if you are sedentary and only exercise a little three days per week, you could probably do with much less.
The problem there is cost. It's getting very expensive for people at the bottom of the economic food chain to live without relying on mostly carbs (and cheap carbs at that).
Other carbs are actually pretty good. Oats does me a lot of good.
