Yeah, I was laughing my ass off. Apparently, the Blackwater Reach goes from 6 inches deep to 50 feet, just like that. And how exactly were they getting those wagons across it?
Poetic license, maybe. Jaime is weighed down by the Lannister armour and that part of him dies. He rises to become Azor Ahai.

George RR Lardass has really put his work on autopilot. That fat idiots only hope is surviving before Game of Thrones tv show gets done. An unfinished book series is a fait accompli for that obese son of a bitch.

Game of Thrones is too slowly paced as it is, pacing to the books would have been silly. Way too much point A to point B travel to pace it to the books, that shit doesn't work on TV. Episodes matter, trying to make it more like the novel is holding the show back. 73 hour movie my ass, learn to make episodes that work as episodes and not just vehicles between one big moment and the next. The best parts of the show are when it isn't jumping from location to location, character to character, and it actually tries to be a genuine episode of a TV show. I'm glad GCF isn't showrunner on this show, that's all I have to say. Everything can't be The Wire, and shows that can't pull the TV novel, or double digit hour movie stuff off shouldn't, especially when they have better tricks in the bag. Hell even The Wire was it's best when it was at it's most episodic, too many showrunners are pulling the wrong lessons from the great tv shows, not realizing what actually made those shows great.

Vikings is kind of like Sons of Anarchy. Its terrible in so many ways, but its entertaining enough to have on as background noise. I have such low expectations of History Channel at this point, I'm just happy they didn't make a Cajun Viking Storage Wars spinoff. But yeah, Vikings is trash. Entertaining trash, but call a spade a spade.

Quit watching Sons of Anarchy mid-way through the fifth season, should have quit a season or two sooner. Everything after Season 2 was just background noise indeed. Terrible main characters, Jax and Tara on screen at the same time, nails on a chalkboard, the only thing that kept me hope watching as long as I did was some of the side characters, Ron Pearlman mostly, and that solid second season. Not a show I would recommend when so much other good tv shows that are better are on these days, not to mention all the great shows you need to catch up on that are already finished series.

If you are going to watch any TV show Kurt Sutter worked on, watch The Shield, soooo much better the Sons of Anarchy.

Dude David Simon is making a show called the Deuce. Have you heard of this show? Its about the porn industry in the 1970's. The guy has been hit and miss since the wire, but that show alone has earned him a lifetime of good will for all his white guilt politics and misguided attempts. I really liked Generation Kill. The trailer is out Capps, and I hope you watch it too so we can discuss it on MHF.

Also, you are right about SoA. lol they are making a hispanic biker gang spinoff of that show. I shit you not. Talk about putting another coat of polish on a turd!

Still need to watch Treme, and Show Me A Hero was real good. But yeah, if I hear the name David Simon, it's like uttering Vince Gilligan's name, totally down. TV Royalty right there. If he can make the politics of public housing interesting television, than the man can pretty much do anything.

I made it through one episode of Treme. It wasn't my thing I guess. I have no doubt it was well researched and accurate, but I was just bored with it. If he had made a show about NOLA immediately after Katrina, and the looting, murder, and Mad Max anarchy that followed, I would have eaten that show up, but watching Bunk Moreland try to hustle a taxi driver over the fare was quite disappointing to me.

I only watched the first episode too, but I hear it gets good, and David Simon's television work is always a slow burn that isn't really fair judge after only one episode. He is telling the story of a community, so it's not going to come across fully formed after only one episode. Like I said the man made late 80's Yonkers public housing politics interesting for six episodes, in Show Me A Hero, if he can do that with a subject that doesn't seem that interesting on the surface, then a community in New Orleans post-Katrina should be no problem, and if word of mouth is to be believed, that logic holds up.

It's on the "to watch" list for sure, I will get around to it eventually. I have faith in David Simon, and Treme is the kind of story he excels at telling on television, and in a way other showrunners can only dream of or poorly imitate. If it's been overrated, I'd be fairly surprised, this seems like an underrated show that never got the love it deserved.
