What's going on in your child's prison/school?

Nothing close to resembling "bang for the buck." They did put the kids on lock down for two full days, complete with a full regime of cops, on the anniversary (and day after,) the Parkland shooting. Parkland is less than 10 miles from us, which probably means we are more likely to get attacked? Dunno.

Other than that, lots and lots and lots of days off and 1/2 days. The common joke is, "Oh, 1/2 day today? Well, you already had a full day off two days ago, so that makes sense. You kids need your rest. "

Federal officials have charged dozens of well-heeled parents, including actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, in what the Justice Department says was a multimillion-dollar scheme to cheat college admissions standards. The parents allegedly paid a consultant who then fabricated academic and athletic credentials and arranged bribes to help get their children into prestigious universities.

We have rich parents, a middle man, and school staff all working to fabricate stories about kids in order to get them into select colleges. In some cases the kids were aware of the fraud. I feel sorry for the kids that had no idea this was why they got into their college and now have to deal with that plus the exposing of their parents as cheats and frauds. The rest involved can all rot in the same population in prison with the drug dealers and rapists for all I care.

Parents paid the schools to let their kids in because most of the kids couldn't rub two brain cells together to get in honestly. The parents got caught because the apple didn't fall far from the tree it seems.

But they didn't so it is news. It's more than just the payoffs. They created phony bios of these kids to get the accepted based on athletics they never even participated in. Plus, University staff were in on the scam.

Being private doesn't make this acceptable. If you found out you were let go from your job because they found someone with an outstanding resume and hired that person to replace you, then you discovered that HR made up their qualifications in order to get them hired you would be fine with it? No outrage or lawsuit fro wrongful termination?

This place really surprises me sometimes. The same people who will argue for pages and pages about the evil of now Amazon treats it's employees poorly meet this with a yawn.
