99.999999999% chance correct.
Could be the case but then again the Eagles signed Michael Vick after he literally severed his punishmwnt for dog fighting. Vick literally spent like 18 months in prison for dog fighting. So..... who knows?

Meh I thought that Vick wasn't really that good and Kap to be the slightly better one. Although, he may have a case since so many NFL players have continued to play when even some of go to prison but all he did was kneel.

Nah Vick had that dope year in 2010 where he made the pro bowl at least, that alone was worth bringing Vick back from their perspective. Kaepernick had like two good seasons, now he's washed up, plus he's going to protest during the anthem, hence why teams are passing on him. If he could play then someone would sign him, but when he's just meh and he's that kind of distraction, then obviously no one is going to want him.

Michael Vick was a top 5 QB before he got pinched. Kaepernick after defenses adjusted to pistol offense never was better than a backup or starter on a bad team. Those numbers are a muddled story. 49ers was one of the worst teams but played an easy schedule the NFL west is not what it once was. A big portion of his numbers came against bad teams and in garbage time. Look at Brian Hoyer this year similar numbers. He finds himself unemployed no one is going to clamour for his services. And Penner won't be yelling about conspiracy theories.

Vick was vastly superior, he averaged over 8 wins a season as QB, Kaepernick a little over 6. Take out the one Zone Read season, and Kaepernick averaged 4 wins a season.

A good comparison would be Tebow and Kaepernick. Both are players that sparked a social debate, both were 2nd rate NFL QBs. Few are pining for Tebow having a job in the NFL, there is no law suit. Tebow was slightly better than Kaepernick. He won 50% of his games as a starter, and 100% of his playoff games as a starter.

Is taking a political stance an issue where they can wash their hands of you?

Is using the workplace to take a political stance?

Anyway, I do think this is the primary reason for his unemployment. Though maybe his skills deteriorated very rapidly.

Actually, thinking it through, I suppose the central question is really if there was collusion, or if every team independently said "we don't need this."
I'm not sure if you've got the timeline right on this. The backup QB was starting games, and it was probable that he wouldn't get signed again at the end of his contract. He was already benched when he pulled his stunt.

The theory I've heard that makes the most sense to me is that he knew he was going to be let go, and pulled his stunt as a hail marry in hopes the team would be afraid to cut him lest they get sued.
