All you have to do is rule the waves.DBTrek wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 2:08 pmEnd the Empire! (Awesome, But also realize you say goodby to massive global resources we currently control)
Break up the banks!!! (Uhhhh, financial institutions hold the vast majority of American wealth and debt. Disrupting them for the sake of “fuck you banks” is really a bad idea)
Free college and healthcare!!! (Right. With all that extra cash we get from relinquishing global resources and destroying the most lucrative sector of our economy)
Another pie-in-the-sky Dem who thinks they can simultaneously castrate our economy and fund bigger social programs than we’ve ever witnessed before. Tulsi kinda boring in that regard.
/shrug
Although include space in that as well.
Inner space and outer space.
Mahanian Eternal Seapower.
Strategic Containment.
Wait them out.

We, the USA. You think raw commodities will be cheaper when we have to purchase them through China or Russia?
Maybe you do.
Anyone who can’t see that slashing your income while quadrupling your spending is unsustainable is likely to believe any fool thing, I guess.
But I think most forum members are smart enough to see that you don’t quit your job, then agree to buy a new car, a new house, and a timeshare in Vegas.
You want to cut down the empire, cool. But you can’t do that while simultaneously expanding the welfare state to unprecedented levels. Even grade-schoolers could do that math.

The Empire of Liberty is nautical.
Appomattox Court House to the Sea of Tranquility.
Appomattox Court House having already resolved the land war component.
Eagle One could go straight from here, to Delta Pavonis, without ever passing by Antietam Creek again.

Your analogies are silly. It is more like taking on more debt load than we can afford. Almost none of it benefits the average American. Quite the opposite. It is in their interests to end these wars and spend that money on Americans insteadDBTrek wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 2:16 pmWe, the USA. Re: 2020 election
My analogies are in point, maybe they’re simply too nuanced for you.
The financial sector (FIRE) accounts for 20% of US GDP. Gabbard wants to disrupt that. Countless natural resources are under our control due to our “empire” - Gabbard wants to disrupt that. Countless small towns in America survive off of nearby military bases. With no empire to sustain, many of those will go belly up.
In the midst of tanking over 20% of our GDP - Gabbard wants to start a free college program. A program we can’t currently afford with empire and a functioning FIRE sector.
It’s pretty simple, bro. Waving you hands around and being like “Well, I’m sure cutting back on empire will save us more than 20% of our GDP” is foolishness - since we only spend about 3.5% GDP on military. More magical Dem thinking - we can squeeze over 20% GDP savings out of a military that only uses 3.5%!
Then free college and Medicare for everyone!
Nope.
No one with a brain is buying that.

Where did I support any of that?
End the wars. End the empire.
If you have to attack progressivism that has nothing to do with it to attack that, well, you might want to reflect on why.

It's basically one big space program. The spinoffs from it accounts for far more than 3.5% GDP.
The military is a huge component of the economy, the Pentagon is just the tip of the iceberg.
A pacifist isolationist nation would never have set foot on the Moon.

Gabbard supports all that. I said I’m fine with ending empire and wars. Why do Tulsi and the rest of the Dems have to pair that with also increasing the welfare state exponentially?Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 2:56 pmWhere did I support any of that?

You aren’t going to buy more for your citizens with no empire and a weakened financial sector than you could with them. Duh.
I’m talking facts here, not feelings.

The capital flees towards Constitution Ave in Washington DC.
America is not seizing resources, resources are fleeing to America, to be sold for a fair price.
The military component is simply ensuring that there is Freedom of Navigation to allow that spice to flow.
The War of Independence was a war for property rights. The world is simply being drawn towards the light.
