I'm remembering why I left. Let's not have facts get in the way of your feelings, right?
Emotions and facts are two things that can be argued, but only one is backable by truth, the other opinion. We just need to remember which one we are attempting to argue to get a point across.
So, which of my four points is not the truth?
I am pointing out that we need to be careful what we debate as fact.
Flooding was the majority of reasons why people died, yes, but it was an effect of the true reason why it happened. Katrina made the waters higher, the flooding happened because of three reasons.
1. Where the flooding hit was under the city was already under sea level, so flooding wasn't going to be an if, but when.
2. The Levies were not upgraded as they were meant to be, so when they failed they failed catastrophically. They were also designed improperly, in where they overestimated the ground strength, so when the 17th street levy failed it was because of improper design and implementation.
3. The Levies were meant to be upgraded before Katrina but the money never showed... so in reality, the reason for the failure of what happened to New Orleans was mainly self-inflicted. Plus the mayor and others didn't help their own causes by not bussing people out when they had the chance either.
