China did not make a political choice to hold US dollars, there is no way for them to make a political choice not to hold them, in order to replace the dollar, they would have to find a spender on the scale of America. Where are they going to find one? Africa? South America? Russia? The closest is Europe, but even the Europeans do not consume on a scale as America does, so that would mean China would take a huge haircut, probably bringing the Communist Party down in the process, so the Communist Party seems unlikely to do that.

Also, what corruption America has, is the right kind of corruption, there's good corruption and bad corruption, American corruption increases the velocity of money, everybody elses corruption slows the money down, so even American corruption is an advantage, weighed against the corruption of her competition.
