If I'm your landlord. And I appoint someone who makes decisions regarding how the place is run I am responsible for whatever decisions are made.
Much like I can revoke the authority of that appointee, so can the government. It is the governments responsibility.
However if the people of the U.K. Don't like it, they could elect people who would revoke that authority. They don't, so on some level it must work for them. And that's all that matters.
