Ottawa blocked the exiled Catalan separatist leader from entering Quebec to stop him from speaking to Pequistes.

Why Alberta’s discontent with Canada is harder to quell than Quebec’s
Canada is a less stable federation than many observers realize.
Canadians are used to taking seriously the threat of separation when it comes to Quebec, but a more serious, less manageable form of conflict may eventually emerge in the federation between Western Canada and the rest of Canada. The Canadian government has been successful so far in managing the “conflict of taste” that has led to Quebec’s historic discomfort in the Canadian federation, because the federal government possesses the tools to address that challenge. But it does not have the same tools to manage the “conflict of claim” that is creating increased dissatisfaction with Confederation in the West. The result is that Canada is a less stable federation than many observers realize. Interestingly, the future of our unity depends largely on whether the West is able to establish a lasting political alliance with Ontario, even though that would mean Quebec no longer being critical for national coalitions.

There is no Canada guys. You’ve been sold a piecemeal, roughshod, ramshackle bill of goods from day 1.

The issue is indeed that there never was a Canada.
There were the Canada's, it was ad hoc, and bound together by the British Empire.
With the collapse of the British Empire, the binding force dissipated.
After the Second World War the Liberals invented a kind of fairy tale.
The Liberal Party of Canada Song, the Liberal Party of Canada Flag, the Liberal Party of Canada Dictatorship.
It does limp along ramshackle and roughshod, basically propped up by America Derangement Syndrome.

There never was an America (singular) either.
13 Nations covers Canada as well. It's for all of North America, except the Caribbean.
I think he adds too many nations in there, personally, but the general idea is correct.
Southland
Yankeeland
Midlands
Appalachia
Far West
That's where I would draw the line.

Canada is a fiction...
Like every other nation on earth.
And it is ultimately doomed... like every other nation on earth...
And every other currency and corporation and other creation of the human imagination.
It holds together only as long as the fiction is accepted...
Canada is par for the course.
I am not excessively attached to the fiction... but also not super invested in it's dissolution.
Nation states have their value... so do currencies... I got some bills in my pocket I plan on trading in... fictitious as they are.

I disagree that a nation is a "fiction". What is fictional is civic nationalism.
Actual nations are composed of predominantly a single ethnic group of people with a shared culture, lineage, values, history, and future trajectory.
The Southland is a nation that currently is colonized in every single city by faggots from Yankeeland. Yankeeland is no longer a nation because they killed themselves with mass migration ever since the 1860s. It is nothing more than a naked will to power now coupled with a desperation to keep the inevitable racial and sectarian warfare at bay, which is why they are always harping on about diversity and tolerance.
I'd also argue that the Midlands and Yankeeland merged into one giant cesspool of garbage.
Appalachia and Southland have merged as well, forming a cultural and racial bloc around Cavalier (southern English) and Borderlands (Scotland and Northern Ireland) ancestry.
Almost every city in the United States is now colonized by tarts from Yankeeland, though, making the urban-rural divide seem less about the nationalistic conflict it really is.

I'm not super invested in the dissolution of Confederation so much as I no longer defend nor uphold it.DrYouth wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 10:44 amCanada is a fiction...

Confederation was made to be like a NATO to protect the British Crown from the menace of American republicanism.
But Canadians are no longer loyalists, they have become de facto Americanized republicans.
Thus Canada itself is an obsolete anachronism.
Again, the only thing that binds it is a virulent Anti-Americanism.
Which is deliberately whipped up by the Liberal Party of Canada and associated CBC propaganda arm.
Without America Derangement Syndrome, the Liberal dictatorship would be imperiled.
