Sounds better in Canada, tbh.

Go fall trees, cut, split logs, continue to stuff wood in an angry contraption for a decade or two and it loses it's luster a little.
Chainsaw and a wood fireplace, what's the big whoop? My neighbor across the street has firewood stacked on his front deck, right in front of his Mercedes-Benz.

I'm lazy, I use gas, but the wood smoke from his fireplace provides a nice scent in my yard anyways.

And you don’t even call the police on him like some intolerant jack wagon when you smell the smoke. What a mensch.

If it was noise tho ...

It's wood smoke, a house fire smells different, the wood fireplace is actually kind of like a chiche-y thing round here, more of a status symbol, like they are hip and me over here with my gas fireplace is gauche.

I was referring to you contacting the police every time an errant dog barks on account of noise pollution.
Sad.

Just talk to the noise polluters, dude. No need to get the uniformed state enforcers involved. What ... you trying to get someone shot?

Well, the by-law allows for dog barking up to 2200 hrs, after 2200hrs someone might come over and talk to you about it, if you kept being a dick about it, then they'd call the city, but rightly so, I mean, bad dog owners give dog owners a bad name, I ain't got time for people who don't respect peoples right to the reasonable enjoyment of their property, and neither does the city, nothing wrong wit dat, what are we paying these taxes for if they ain't down for that?

Property rights include the reasonable enjoyment of it without being subjected to persistent nuisance, I mean, duh.

The last time I summoned the constabulary over a nuisance was on Christmas Day, there's a condo complex around the corner here which brought in a huge snowplow and started plowing with the back alarm going off, disturbing muh baby Jesus wot? No heavy equipment usage on holidays allowed.

When I called they said they already three complaints about it and the constable was on the way. Five minutes later it stopped. Mission accomplished.

An industrial back alarm going off on Christmas Day? That's the War on Christmas, stand to, stand to.

I had a neighbor call the police on me because they heard one firework, at 2PM on Christmas Eve.

Think about that.
This asshole called the cops on the father of two little kids, because at 2PM, in the middle of the fucking day, on Christmas Eve, he heard a firework.

Fuck that asshole.

Took the cop two weeks to get around to questioning me about it too. So I didn’t even know this weasel was trying to turn me in to the state until January 9th or so.

I, of course, had no idea what that human scrotum might have been talking about, especially weeks after the alleged incident, officer.
Case closed.

But fuck that guy.

Fireworks are permitted here on holidays, fireworks yes, back alarms no. I've been through the by-law with a fine tooth comb, it's actually quite reasonable as far as I am concerned, there's not a single thing in there which I find to be unreasonable, couldn't really have wrote it better meself.

Reasonable enjoyment of your property, subject to the hour and day, you can run a back alarm until 1700 hrs, if it's not a weekend or holiday.

Working hours is for back alarms, holiday hours is for fireworks and whatnot, nothing unreasonable about that.

Our by-law also stipulates persistent nuisance/standing noise source, so they won't come unless unless it's going on and on, like if your dog barks after 2200 hrs, they don't just jump down your throat for that, your dog has to be barking persistently.
