You ain't tougher than me, I know that for damn sure. I once went camping miles away from wifi for nearly four days. I only cried at the very end because I got stung by a big horsefly, a lot bigger than anything they have in Canada.Smitty-48 wrote:Improve yourself, improve your conditions, you don't honestly think that If I needed money, I would settle for minimum wage, do you? Hell when I first began Walmart expected me to clock out and finish my stuff, fuck right off with that. Smitty, be honest, you're not on labor's side, most of this board isn't for one reason or another, so talking about improving labor's conditions is like trying to convert Lucifer. You'd have a different opinion if you were here next to me.Smitty-48 wrote:
Why do you settle for $11/hour, that's not enough to pay for Islay single malt, why don't you demand more?
And frankly, I've done plenty of hard jobs, jobs that would break a man like you, make no mistake.
Minimum Wage just went up to $11.50 in Washington State. The price of milk is $2.68 a Gallon.

Well, like I say, if I was in dire straights, If we needed the money, I'd go in a heartbeat, but my wife is not moving to buttfuck middle of nowhere Alberta, she has her own job here, so it would have to be unaccompanied, and I'd have to fly back and forth, that's what my neighbor does, so, I'd wait until I was in dire straights before I took it there.Kath wrote:Yes. I was more "ear to the ground," than "go get 'em," but the risk paid off far more than not. Moving for money was one of my best decisions. It brought me all else, just by being responsible for me and two cats.Smitty-48 wrote:I mean, my neighbor two doors down just offered me a job for a $100,000/year, but I'd have to go buttfuck middle of nowhere Alberta to work for him, which, not up for that at this juncture, but if I needed the money, I would go.

All sass no substance. Man, I'd love, just love for someone to say this to me while on the job, oh we'd go. It'd make my fucking year, I live for it. Man I wish we worked the same job smitty, we could put your words to the test, but alas, old man, we don't. Too bad.Smitty-48 wrote:

Ain't nothing like hard work to feed the soul, is there? Cures all kinds of stuff, good hard work, American cure-all.Speaker to Animals wrote:Before I enlisted as a young buck, I was working a raw bar in Florida for a while. Was the pay shit? Yep. In hindsight, trying to escape that was not the wisest move. I was trapped on the flight line working 60+ hours per week. Before I shipped out to Idaho, one of my instructor told me I'd love it there because there's a beautiful woman behind every tree. I didn't get the joke until I arrived.

I just did ten pushups in well under five min. I was watching the Shield while I did them. You are not tougher than me. Contrary to your nom de forum, you are no jedi. I could see you as a Watto. A pampered and bloated fairy reptile that relies on the hardwork of others like Schmi and Anakin. Toydarians are known to complain and flutter around making arbitrary claims that are unrelated to the facts on the ground. They are not good workers. I'm sorry kid, but you haven't worked like I've worked, and no kind of internet posturing will change that. That's what I hate about online stuff. You talk shit, and I have to put up with it, but irl, you would become a quivering ball of feces and urine, running as quickly as you can away from anything masculine or labor-oriented. You are nothing. I mean that as a compliment. No I don't. Fuck you. Don't talk about labor nigga, you aint shit! Back that ass up until you can back up your weak ass demand side economics and we can talk about some minimum wage for your toilet cleaning ass. Wal Mart went easy on your bitch ass letting you clock out and finish your work. I wouldn't even let you clock in, and I would work you so long that your shift starts during one solistice and ends during another, you two bit ass welfare hound. You haven't worked until Daralon pays you. Keep complaining online, but until you bleed like a used maxi pad, you will never get my respect.jediuser598 wrote:This is what sucks about the internet, someone pulls my man card, we can't go at it. I would go see your stand-up. Maybe pay for some drinks while you did your routine so the establishment was like "Yeah, he's bringing in business." Alas, I only order diet coke, so they wouldn't make that much. I tried, muh nigga, I tried.heydaralon wrote:I just did ten pushups in well under five min. I was watching the Shield while I did them. I'm not saying this as an insult to anyone on the forum, but I work harder than anyone, because I make it my job to read and research entire wikipedia articles on various actors. I just memorized the Robert Duvall imdb page and wikipedia article. This is not as impressive as a feat as it used to be because imdb got rid of their message boards, so we are talking about a lot less info. Here's the thing: I'm not getting paid for any of this, and society doesn't value it, but I do it anyway. That's discipline, and that's sacrifice.

I don't think banging your head against a wall for $11.50/hour borderline ward of the state, is in fact the American way, I don't think you get any credit for that in America, no, that doesn't get you any points in America, that's a pathetic loser in American terms.
It's a harsh realm America, you have to hustle up significantly more than that, to get any kudos from the Eagle With Thunderbolts In Talons Grasped.
Making a shit load of money for doing fuck all, is the actual American dream, don't try to snow the snowman.

Just re-read this, life's fascinating ain't it? What could have been?Speaker to Animals wrote:Before I enlisted as a young buck, I was working a raw bar in Florida for a while. Was the pay shit? Yep. Sometimes I think, go work up in some ski resort tending a bar, renting some no bedroom apartment would be the life. Or on some cold resort beach. Could do it too, my resume? I'm the every man, can find low wage work anywhere. Where ever I want to go, won't take me long to find a job, live on so little that my margins ain't too bad. Come a long way since I was flying out to places with no money and no plan. That's me, the every man with a bit a philosophical training. It is what it is, I'm not ashamed. 95% of the people I know are back home, doing jack shit with their lives. Working in some factory that's going to give them long term medical issues, inhaling plastic fumes is a bitch. Knocking up their girlfriend, marry her, have a few more kids. Some of them are on drugs, a lot of them really, but they never went anywhere, they never want more. "Philosophy, what's that?" They're ok with it all, but still, respect them for the hard work.
I'm out here, winging it, by myself. No safety net, brother. No family around here. Already beat 95% of what I'm from. But that isn't enough. Sometimes, it's hurry up and wait. I got my plans, my ambitions, but you know I'm not going to share them, not here. Someone wants to go grab a drink sometime in Seattle and talk about life? Yeah sure, then, but not going to let people shit on me from the internet, or rather, not going to give them good targets, gotta let them fire in the dark, that way they miss most of the time.
