Unless you lived in Florida in 1992, no you haven't. There have only been three cat 5 hurricanes to ever make landfall in the US.Nukedog wrote:Meh. I've been in a cat 5. Just pushed a tree into the apartment. No big deal really. It's always the flooding with these things.

Actually... it would work. The local weather system would be annihalated.Speaker to Animals wrote:Nukedog wrote:
Technically, yes. Then you created a Cat 5 Radioactive Hellstorm.

I did. Wasn't a big deal on the other coast though. The nasty shit is 50 miles wide. The rest is a bad rainstorm.StCapps wrote:Unless you lived in Florida in 1992, no you haven't. Was it category 4 in that bad one around the turn of the century that landed around Galveston Texas? Brutal and fairly modern times.
The Great Galveston Hurricane[1], known regionally as the Great Storm of 1900 [2][3][4], was a Category 4 storm, with winds of up to 145 mph (233 km/h), which made landfall on September 8, 1900, in Galveston, Texas, in the United States. It killed 6,000 to 12,000 people, making it the deadliest natural disaster in U.S. history.

Well again, that was flooding. You don't have to worry about what cat the hurricane is as much as what the projected flooding will be.
I don't even think Florida can flood. Can it?

The entire state is about 6 feet above sea level, soo... yeah. Just hasn't happened since we developed it.Nukedog wrote:Well again, that was flooding. You don't have to worry about what cat the hurricane is as much as what the projected flooding will be.

LOL
Out at sea it made Cat 5. By the time it made landfall it was only Cat 3.
Andrew was fucking horrible, dude. If people think this is going to be like Katrina, they have a day of horror awaiting them if they live near landfall of that eye wall.
