Let’s face it. No one except for election officials really know what happens to your vote once you cast it, so it’s not surprising that more and more research is showing that citizens don’t vote because they don’t believe their votes count. Understandably, these frustrated voters are losing confidence in our democratic system.
Enter Follow My Vote’s online voting platform. Using a webcam and a government-issued ID, voters can remotely and securely log in and vote for their desired candidates. After they’ve selected their candidates, they can use their unique Voter ID to quite literally open the ballot box, locate their vote, and check that it is both present and correct. Additionally, voters can then watch the election progress in real time as votes are cast. What’s more, Follow My Vote’s platform allows for an indecisive voter to return to the system and switch his or her votes at any time before the election deadline closes.
The ability to change your vote, coupled with the ability to observe the election in real time, has major implications for the current two-party system. Now, voters who would like to vote for a third party candidate are likely not to for fear of wasting their vote on a candidate who is not likely to win. In some instances, voting for a third party draws votes from one of the two dominant parties that has similar views and increases the chances the opposition party will win. With the ability to change their vote, voters can counteract this vote-splitting effect and shake up the current two-party system.

Yep! However it is a lot faster than those stupid cards.Martin Hash wrote:If you've traveled internationally lately, they already do.GrumpyCatFace wrote:I don't want the government to possess a biometric scan of my face, thank you.
Being ex military they already have my face, fingerprints, and DNA profile.
I do believe the whole, I don't want the government to have a biometric scan of my face thing is a bit old fashioned. They can have access to that pretty easily as well as your entire online history at will, so you're not really protecting yourself from anything.
When our government goes all authoritarian eventually, best bet is just to leave. Dissidents will be easily tracked down. Hell, they will be able to identify dissidents before they even realize they are dissidents by analyzing web and social media history. Advertisers can already tell when you are depressed and market to you accordingly.
Only way to protect yourself is to be not worth noticing. Move to the Alaskan bush and build a cabin or something lol.

One of the first thing totalitarian states do is lock down the borders.Viktorthepirate wrote:Yep! Go to the bush, and the mighty taxman will be along to demand blood.
No scans of my face exist, except from CCTV cameras, and I'll keep it that way if possible. Fucking panic monkeys invited the police state right in, and here it is.

Oh yea, go to the bush and pay your taxes lol. In fact you can't cut water and power and be self sustainable in most places. They will condemn your house lol. Alaska has exceptions however.
Yea, CCTV is good enough. Ask NYC.
Locking down borders..... meh. What exactly you got beef with?

I think he's talking about locking us in. Yeah, that's usually a bad sign. Hasn't' happened yet. As for biometrics, that horse is SO out of the barn! We might as well let it do us some good instead of pretending it's not ubiquitous. That's right up there with pretending our SS# are secret.Viktorthepirate wrote:.Locking down borders..... meh. We are only accustomed to dealing with like twenty online personas at a time so when we only have about ten people some people have to be strawmanned in order to advance our same relative go nowhere nonsense positions. -TheReal_ND

Would you people listen to yourselves "10 minutes to vote and I thought the holocaust was bad". And no that is not creative, someone watching the stock exchange and thought "ooo this is what elections should be like." isnt creative, it's dumb. Why do leftist wanna know how everyone is voting? What the fuck is that?brewster wrote:I admit this is not my favorite plan, but it shows some creativity. Almost anything would be better than the awfulness we have now. The difference between locking in and locking out is the flick of a switch.brewster wrote:I think he's talking about locking us in. Yeah, that's usually a bad sign. Hasn't' happened yet.
