Re: Au Revoir, Paris Accord?
I am always told that the Mon is still the dirtiest river out of the three. That is because of all of the steel mills that is still has in places like West Virginia, etc... That being said, the current environment is still light years way better than what it was once was and the economics of Pittsburgh has moved on and left the steel mills in the past. So, still the idea that Trump is doing this for "the people of Pittsburgh" is just a bunch of hot air, on Trump's part and the actual people of Pittsburgh have found other industries (like high-tech companies, medical, robotics, education, etc...) to invest and work in.Alexander PhiAlipson wrote:

What sorcery is this?
The water is now both blue and brown, but switched around.
What's a confluence? Why would they call their stadium Three Rivers?
The fact is, it seems that a lot of Trump supports have the past in their mind and are picturing the past way wrong as well.

China and EU strengthen promise to Paris deal with US poised to step awayThe European Union has rejected Donald Trump’s offer to renegotiate the Paris climate agreement and pledged instead to bypass Washington to work with US business leaders and state governors to implement the historic accord’s commitments.
Less than 24 hours after the US president announced his decision to withdraw from the 2015 agreement and strike a new, less ambitious deal with the rest of the world, Brussels declared its outright refusal to engage in such talks.
EU officials will instead cut out the White House to deal directly with the US states and major corporations, many of whom have already pledged to live by the terms forged in Paris.
Interesting. It would seem Trump has succeeded in forcing a realignment in the geopolitical world. China and the EU (as well as some US-based multi-national corporations) have begun aligning together against the US and UK. Perhaps the world is deciding the so-called anglosphere nations are rouge actors and are moving to sanction and contain them? Could Canada and Australia be next on the hit list?China and the EU will forge an alliance to take a leading role in tackling climate change in response to Donald Trump’s expected decision to pull the US out of the historic Paris agreement.
...
But Beijing and Brussels have been preparing to announce their intention to accelerate joint efforts to reduce global carbon emissions.
According to a statement being prepared before an EU-China summit in Brussels on Thursday and Friday, the new alliance will say they are determined to “lead the energy transition” toward a low-carbon economy.
The EU’s climate commissioner, Miguel Arias Cañete, told the Guardian: “The EU and China are joining forces to forge ahead on the implementation of the Paris agreement and accelerate the global transition to clean energy.”
Cañete continued: “No one should be left behind, but the EU and China have decided to move forward. Our successful cooperation on issues like emissions trading and clean technologies are bearing fruit. Now is the time to further strengthen these ties to keep the wheels turning for ambitious global climate action.”

Just how do you get the UK in this picture??? Oh, Is it this thing below?
So Theresa May personally regretted Trump's actions, but didn't sign some paper with three other EU countries. Well, a lot of other countries didn't go with that either, but likely are dissappointed.Theresa May has expressed regret over Donald Trump's decision to pull out of the Paris climate accord in a personal phone call with the US President.
Ms May did not put her name to a joint statement released by the leaders of France, Germany and Italy on Thursday evening but told Mr Trump of her belief the Paris agreement represented "the right global framework for protecting the prosperity and security of future generations".
I don't think Theresa May isn't planning much anything together with Trump. She doesn't trust the White House after the leaks on the last terrorist attack, and of course the White House has accused of the British meddling in US domestic issues. A new Maggie-Ronnie relationship isn't emerging here.

They will always ally with their former colonies
Anyway, this whole thing is symbolic and means nothing in the long run
Although you can easily see why GOP senators urged the withdrawal

Theresa the appeaser.
Too scared of upsetting President Krusty to do the right thing.

Re: Au Revoir, Paris Accord?
Welp either Trump actually believes that the people of Pittsburgh a) like/support him (which they do not), b) elected him (which 80% did not) c) his hardcore supporters wanted this (okay, they probably did) because they think that this will be a good thing for America. Which it won't. I mean sure the Paris Accord is mostly just talked but it's the idea of solidarity and if Trump didn't want to support it all he could've done was to pay lip service to it and then not act on it. Then this way we are not the laughing stock of the world and instead Trump could act on in anyway he wanted to. I mean it's not like he hasn't lied to the American people before and/or pull bullshit out of his ass before. He also didn't need to invoke Pittsburgh's name because the people of Pittsburgh didn't vote for him. The majority of them, 80% of them, voted for Clinton, and d) is just bullshitting the whole world.PartyOf5 wrote:Liberal debate in a nutshell.Penner wrote: The fact is, it seems
