There are plenty of people alive who remember the polio epidemics and the resulting traveling nurses. Perfect example of government responding to a crisis as it should and as only it can.jbird4049 wrote:

Look, l understand why people can be against government services, but there are times when the CDC, or FEMA is what's needed, because the Lions Club or your church will not be enough.

Do they remember that Jonas Salk donated the vaccine to the world for free?MilSpecs wrote:There are plenty of people alive who remember the polio epidemics and the resulting traveling nurses. Perfect example of government responding to a crisis as it should and as only it can.jbird4049 wrote:

One of the greatest human beings who ever lived IMO. That said, we're not powerless in the face of catastrophe. What do you think will happen to the pharma CEO who gouges on a vaccine for a pandemic? And if we don't act in the fact of that kind of threat, another country will. If China can pirate software, it can produce or copy a vaccine.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Do they remember that Jonas Salk donated the vaccine to the world for free?MilSpecs wrote:There are plenty of people alive who remember the polio epidemics and the resulting traveling nurses. I never said I was. If you really want to socialize it then I want complete immigration reform. Well I always do, but now I'm saying you're going to need it.Martin Hash wrote:You can see the problem right here in this thread: I think every single poster except one agrees that healthcare must be socialized but that one refuses to budge in the slightest, either out of ideology, selfishness or stubbornness. Anyway, I just think that paying so much more for a system that in the end is worse than others basically sucks. Irrelevant of the underlying ideologies.

Without drastic immigration reform, all this stuff will simply amount to middle class whites being forced to subsidize their demographic replacement and dispossession of their nation.
It's already like that in states like California, where whites labor under a burdensome state tax in order to fund many social programs offered to immigrants who should never be here in the first place.
Change the laws so that people can only immigrate here if they can sustain themselves here. If they need welfare and social services, them they should go back.

If you want to cure diseases, then you need to support large government research labs. Curing diseases is not profitable. Capitalism is a no go. Will not solve.
