I think politicians have lied and stole since the dawn of man. I don't think it can be changed. Some are better than others. Warts and all, I like Trump considerably more than Clinton, Bush, or Obama, but he's playing games the same as they did.Xenophon wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 8:17 amI'm just sick of the political maneuvering. There's no amount of community organizing or boycotting or anything else that citizens can do that is going to help anything. The best option is to join parallel societies and let the corpse of America rot in peace.heydaralon wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 8:13 amI'll give Dan credit where it is due here. He said many many years ago, that current presidents are very reluctant to investigate and prosecute ex presidents, because some day the current president will be an ex president. I believe he is 100% right.DBTrek wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 8:09 am No, nothing happens to Obama.
Maybe nothing happens to anyone.
They really shouldn't use the expression "digging for dirt." They should call it "digging for oil." When the oil gets unearthed it shoots out of the ground and sprays everywhere. Everywhere. Who knows who or where it will hit? Oil is also combustible.
I think how Americans got themselves into this pickle is thinking that perennial unsolvable problems could be fixed by the gov't. Some things don't have a solution, and the cure is worse than the disease. Everyone wants the govt to do everything, and be involved in everything. That is what causes these ridiculous people to wreak havoc on us with the power we give them.
You are a Christian no? The idea of original sin is something that Christians seem to understand far better than progressives. Christians believe in evil. They know it exists. progressives have simply replaced evil with ignorance. If only we had better education or leaders or experts than we could achieve this perfect society where scarcity, vices, bad choices, and inequality won't exist. You can see exactly where that leads. To San Francisco or any other dysfunctional major city. And that's in America. It has lead to far worse in places outside the US.
I think we'd all be better off accepting that humans will never rid themselves of these problems and understand that living with them to an extent is what being human is. You can fix some of them and take the sharper edges off, but only temporarily and salvation does not come from govt. God, family, and personal initiative are all far better places to look if you want to make the world better imo.
