I would strongly suspect any people working hundred hour weeks and unable to feed their kids are likely workers not here legally working under the table jobs for less than minimum wage. As pointed out, working 80 hour weeks for a year is a $30k /yr job. Combine a minimum wage job with a $1k / month / adult national dividend, and that starts being enough to actually live on (especially in a two worker household).

As to your post - that which is unsustainable won't last....The question is whether the US goes full blown commie or not....wealth divide is too big...and automation is locking people into proledom....People tend to grab pitch forks when they can't feed their kids....but pitch forks won't do much against Sgt.
