Re: Hood Code - Sign of a Broken Culture
This is called anarcho-tyranny.
The state only enforces "laws" against the lawful, and allows the criminals to run rampant.
You see it most of all in places like England where the police refused to prosecute numerous Muslim rape gangs while showing up in the middle of the night to arrest actual Englishmen who criticize the demographic replacement and lock them in rape cages (populated mostly by Muslims).
That's anarcho-tyranny.
It's easier for police and prosecutors to go after a woman with no power than a criminal gang with resources. So they go after the innocent.

You tell me Dr. Y.
The story is bigger than the mother. Every adult bystander at a crowded hamburger stand stonewalled the cops. Would you stonewall the cops ater watching a kid get gunned down in your neighborhood?
If so, you're part of hood culture.
I find the odds much stronger that you and GCF are part of apologist/infantilization culture. Rather than looking at behavior in aggregate and acknowledging a problem you come up with fanciful counterexamples, boundless excuses, and endlessly feeble rationalizations to try to justify unjustifiable behavior.
After all, if you can just deflect, excuse, and rationalize long enough maybe you can convince yourselves that you're actually good guys in this equation, not bad guys. But the truth is, by trying every approach you can to ignore an obvious and prevalent problem, you're actually bad guys who are quite comfortable with other humans living in this sort of broken culture - and you have a long list of excuses and recriminations to convince yourself that there's nothing to be done.

This particular man in my story appears to command a considerable number of other men to do his bidding... and they appear to operate with impunity.Speaker to Animals wrote:There is no order any longer. The only way to deal with that sort of thing is to threaten the man with serious harm, or deliver on it.
The harm they have meted out staggers the imagination. They are obviously animals.
This is beyond the scope of ordinary non-superhero mortals... it would require a coordinated effort of armed individuals...
Either another gang or coordinated police response... neither of which I command.
I'm not really in a position to summon such a force, given the bourgeois panty-waist world in which I find myself.
But I have fantasized about it.

We will transition to such a system soon. Anarcho-tyranny leads to tribes.
It's basically how cities like Chicago ran back in the early 20th century. The police cared fuck all about recent immigrant populations. The only justice those people received was from the gangs. Gangs operated as a kind of police force too. That's something a lot of people do not consider when they study the period and the phenomenon.

I'm not apologizing for the police, the social services or the victims in this narrative.
It's completely sickening.
It keeps me awake at night.

Once your society has degenerated to that point, the only way to save her is to kill him or find some criminal more powerful to restrain him.

I can't imagine you're dealing with worse than him.
And he was taken down.

Regardless, the perp doesn't get away except every adult at a hamburger stand - aka neutral members of the same broken culture, all agree that blowing away a teenage girl and running off is ok.

That certainly seems more likely, that some kind of “honor code” prevents witnesses from speaking out, rather than fear for their lives. Occam’s razor indeed.

Re: Hood Code - Sign of a Broken Culture
I've never lived in a neighborhood where murdering a teen girl in broad daylight and stonewalling cops is ok. And I've lived in some truly shitty neighborhoods from Martineztown New Mexico, to Central Street St. Petersburg Florida, to Rainier Valley and Tukwila Washington.
None of them are South Central LA, but most of them are considerably worse than places I suspect the average members of this forum frequent. So having lived in shitty, gang infested, neighborhoods - I can attest that people still call and talk to cops when shootings and homicides happen - in normal, healthy cultures. They don't call cops for much else, but when shots are fired you can count on the cops showing up and taking names.
In fact, maybe that's precisely what keeps them a step above South L.A.
