It isn't about apologizing to anybody. It's about recognizing who you are, that other people like you have common interests, and that if you want to achieve or protect those interests all of you have to organize to some extent.

And what we saw as Anti-Fa grew more and more violent, groups of 1st Amendment supporters showed up and countered them. Willing to go to blows with them to stop the terrorist attacks.

And the establishment diffused those counterprotesters with civic nationalism.

You can apologize for anything you want as long as it's a real apology for something you truly feel bad for.

Of course it you're just "apologizing" to avoid consequences, ingratiate yourself to others, etc, it rings hollow and is really just for personal "gain", not really a true apology. If you're doing that you should just stand your ground.

Well I want to apologize on behalf of the liberals I know that embarrass me...
And there's a lot of them.
They embarrass me by taking on the causes of perceived victim groups that don't want or need their "protection".
They embarrass me by forgetting the importance of family, faith, tradition and clan.
They embarrass me by forgetting the importance of personal responsibility, self defence and strength.

But that all being said... I guess I'm still a liberal... and I don't apologize for that.

I don't think it's anything to be embarrassed about. If we aren't evolving and getting a better understanding of things that's the embarrassment.

I'm embarrassed about things I've supported in the past as well. I can't believe it took me so long to recognize that NeoCons were just Progressives or how damaging Progressivism has been to our country of the last century.

NeoCons were/are evangelical liberals trying to spread liberalism to foreign lands by force if necessary.
They believed those foreigners would welcome them with open arms... kissing their feet and thanking them for the liberty they had generously bestowed upon them.
Liberals spreading liberty and saving souls since like forever...
Now they are taking back the spreading liberty side of the equation and just want the souls.

I've got a mother in law who's family weened her on Progressivism and they were early Progressives going back to the 20's. We were visiting them about a month ago and an issue came up about basically people with failed lives and she just comes out with this Eugenics talk like it's proper and logical about how we should be sterilizing people so they don't reproduce.
