Their purchasing decisions at different price points actually help determine how much it should cost a farmer to harvest a peach, or whether peaches are actually worth harvesting at all.

For the benefit of Californians, of course, who may have lost the whole free market idea with the fading of their ancestral memories.

Yeah, that's fucking awesome. Maybe we should let Mexico produce bootlegged versions of copyrighted media and patented technologies to sell at a steep discount in American markets. This open borders idea will work great when we apply not just to labor!!
Me: price point driven markets help determine labor wages which can also determine whether or not a particular product is even viable.

StA (supposed economics minor): I GUESS MEXICO SHOULD JUST BOOTLEG EVERYTHING AND RESELL IT HERE THEN, BECAUSE OPEN BORDERS ARE JUST SO AWESOME.

I’ll let the forum make its own judgment as to who the fucking idiot is. Jeez-Louise.

Just for half a second, stop being such an ignorant ass and consider this:

Labor is a product that is subject to supply and demand no differently than an iPhone.

When you refuse to enforce immigration laws and flood our nation with millions of illegal immigrants who glut the labor force, you drive down wages because you increase supply.

The analog to that would be for Mexico to manufacture millions of iPhone clones and flood the American market with iPhones for less than half the price of a real iPhone and the government refuses to do fuck all about it while Apple Inc. loses much of their revenue, their stock declines, and they slide towards bankruptcy.

Neocons like Sowell want to protect markets when it suits capitalists (with patents, trademarks, and riders in trade deals that enforce those patents and copyrights) but then fuck with the market when it suits them (by doing the exact opposite to the labor market). These people are not telling it to you straight. It's dishonesty and you apparently can't figure it out for yourself.

Actually, your diatribe is not only self obvious, it was covered by Sowell in the early chapters of his voluminous tome. Though your completely backwards about Sowell’s opinion.

It also has nothing to do with anything I said, being neither contrary in opinion nor conclusion. So good work. You have demonstrated like a chapter 2.5 knowledge level of Basic Economics, by the esteemed Thomas Sowell.

My diatribe?

You really are incapable of a debate. It was an argument. It's a valid one. Flooding the American labor pool with illegal immigrants is exactly like flooding any other market with bootlegged copies of something at steep discount.

Copyrights and patents serve the market in the same way that immigration law serves the market.

Stop behaving like a child and actually engage with what people are writing.

I said nothing about illegal immigrants, Mexicans, or intellectual property in the post that sent you down this rabbit hole of espousing self-obvious and easily deduced economic principles.

If anyone has an idea on how my observation on price point driven markets assist with self-regulating wages triggered StA on Mexicans and open borders, please PM me. It’s a damn mystery from where I’m sitting.

*sigh*

You really aren't worth engaging with. You just talk trash with no real argument. I hope you read a different economics book someday. Maybe even three whole economics book, including an actual textbook!

Apparently I can get a minor in it from your alma matter and still have zero functional knowledge. Maybe I’ll see if I can CLEP test a minor from them, send me their address.

You don't have any arguments, DB. You just repeat neocon talking points and then insult people. When people respond to you with arguments, you just insult them. There's nothing substantive here. Maybe read more and post less.

Odd, my economics threads sparked plenty of conversations and several hundred views.

Your stalking of me with constant cries of insecurity and repeated defamations of Thomas Sowell have produced jack shit.

So, empirically speaking, I’d say the proof is in the pudding, newb. Folks are more interested in talking actual economics than watching an insecure man beat his chest about his supposed minor, while contributing nothing of value.

There is nothing odd about it. You finish a chapter of Sowell's book, create a thread with his simplistic talking points, people try to explain to you that it's much more complex than that, and you proceed to insult and posture instead of actually engaging with what they have to say.

It's especially retarded that your only exposure to economics is a half-read Sowell book, no actual economics texts, and you behave like this towards people who bothered to study this topic for real.

It's not as simple as you were led to believe. There are no easy answers in macroeconomics. Anybody who tells you it is so simple is lying to you.
