I% is like 1 out of a hundred.
I could literally have been a 1% if I stayed in school and got a STEM degree.

Here’s what’s being overlooked by this clickbait mangling of facts meant to inspire class warfare:
1. This is a global report. GLOBAL. So that’s 1% out of 9 billion people or so, of which vast amounts are illiterate their worlders. We’re lumping the uneducated peasants of rural Mongolia into this report to get the numbers we want, so keep that in mind.
2. 50% of people (on Earth) saw no wealth increase. Which means 50% of 9 billion people DID.
3. We’re talking about CREATED wealth. New shit. Who creates most of the new wealth? The bottom half of the economic spectrum? The upper third of do-a-task for a paycheck workers? Or the top 1% captains of global industries?
So, the article can be accurately summed up as:
Top 1% Reaped 82% of the new wealth they created, but 50% of the planet reaped more wealth overall from what was created.
So what’s the problem? Half of everyone on earth got more. The vast majority of them for doing nothing different and taking no new risks.

Question for MH: How do you reallocate wealth that few created into the hands of everyone without killing the incentive to create wealth?

I live in a world where people don’t tend to invest time, effort, or labor in risky ventures that promise little to no reward if successful and ruin if not.
Earth, I believe, is what they call this planet.
