It's no wonder people are addicted to bodybuilding. The physiques at least
look pretty amazing. The media all portray that aesthetic look as carrying some functional status that it doesn't necessarily carry (though hardly impossible either). People get addicted to wanting the appearance of being a superhero. The problem is that the work that goes into being a champion fighter, for example, is quite a lot harder than just going to the gym six days a week and sticking to a meal plan. Nor does becoming a great fighter necessarily make you look like what Hollywood says you should look like having achieved it.
