It's been slowly slipping away for decades. The racial divisions are baked into the cake due to open borders and the post-1965 immigration policy. Democrats just tried to take advantage of it.
They assumed they'd have total power by making whites a minority. Unfortunately, it won't be a white democratic party elite who enjoy that power. They didn't think that part through. At this point, they have to manage the racial and ethnic rifts within their anti-white coalition. Scapegoating white men only keeps people unified for so long.
In a multicultural society, nobody who is not an idiot or a brainwashed asshole votes for somebody because that politician shares their ideas. They vote for their tribe first, ideas second. The problem with the democratic party is that their coalition is much too broad.
The GOP need only figure out how to get blacks onboard and they can be the ones to foment the racial divides within the democratic party.

And that, folks, is why the democratic elite absolutely lose their shit at these civic nationalist cucks making headway with the black vote. I think the idea of civic nationalism espoused by blacks is hilarious in a way, but the very idea that the white and black votes can be unified (which is what this is, under the auspices of a fake civic nationalist narrative) pulls the rug out from beneath the demographic political game the democrats are playing.
They know their house is burning down under down the absurdities of trying to create a broad multi-ethnic coalition. They don't give a shit about losing their lock on the black vote. They give a shit about white and black votes unifying.
Most likely, the democratic party is going to be the Latino party. The republican party will become the white/black (actual American) party. That is just how I see this shaking down over the horizon of about twenty years or so.
Where the GOP is fucking it up is in trying to lie to people about what they doing. Sure, you still have a lot of neocons and cucks in the party who actually believe this shit, but nobody behind the scenes does. I am convinced of that. I don't even think Trump believes this civic nationalist horse shit any longer. But it is a mistake to not be open about it. Just come clean and point out that whites and blacks have somewhat aligned interests when you drop the victim ideology, and they are completely opposed to the Latino voters.
We are all playing this stupid game of trying to divide up racially without admitting it. I am sure people are gaming themselves too, trying to admit to themselves this is what they are doing, as they move to neighborhoods with people that look like them, send their kids to colleges with other students that look like them, etc.
