If Kaepernick had the same level of ability as let's say any of the top 10 QB in the NFL, this would be less of a sticking point. When he played he wasn't even in the top 20 of Backup QBs...

People don't want him because he sucks, and he is a negativity magnet. If you had a negative attitude and could perform, he'd probably have a job at a 2nd rate team right now, but no top tier team will ever take him.
